Facts and Figures of Rio Summer Olympics 2016

Now that the Summer Olympics 2016 at Rio de Janeiro are over, let us take a look at the facts and figures of these games and competitions.

  • The Rio Olympics events kicked off with the opening ceremony on 5th August 2016.
  • They came to close with the closing ceremony on 21st August 2016.
  • But, the games literally started on 03/08/2016 itself with the Women's Football (First Round) matches taking place on that day and Men's Football (First Round) matches taking place on 04/08/2016.
  • As many as 208 nations participated in the games. A total number of 39 games and sports events took place.
  • The 2016 Olympics events took place at 32 venues within Rio de Janeiro and the Football matches took place at 5 football co-hosting cities of Belo Horizonte, Brasilia, Manaus, Salvador, and Sao Paulo.
