Ranking the Top 10 Recent Nba Drafts
When ranking draft classes, many people forget how good certain classes were/are. So today I will be doing all classes all the way back to 2009. When ranking, I will put how many all stars, MVP Awards, Rookie of the Year Awards, and everything to make sure that my rankings agree with you, the readers.
Without further due, let's get into the draft class rankings! This will not be including the 2019 Draft Class because they have not play any real basketball aside from a couple Summer League games!
10. 2014 NBA Draft Class
This draft was by far the worst in the last decade, only producing one all-star so far in the league. These being Joel Embiid and Nikola Jokic, and they are the only non bust players in here. While there is argument that Zach Lavine is a borderline all-star, he hasn't been yet and is not leading the Bulls to wins. Other non busts include Marcus Smart, Clint Capela, Spencer Dinwiddie, and Julius Randle.
Here below, are the accolades this draft has got so far:
- 2 All-Stars
- 3x All-NBA Teams
- 2x NBA Dunk Contest Champion
- 3x All-Defensive Teams
9. 2016 NBA Draft Class
This class was honestly a complete flop, and if it were a couple years older it would have been the worst on our rankings. Aside from Ben Simmons, this draft has produced no all stars. While this draft has brought us decent players like Pascal Siakam, Buddy Hield, and Caris LeVert, there were more busts than boom in this draft.
Here below, are the accolades this draft has got so far:
- 1x NBA Champion
- 1X All-Star
- 1x Most Improved Player
8. 2018 NBA Draft Class
While it might be too early to tell or not, this draft compared to the other ones above on the list has been worse. It has young promising players like DeAndre Ayton. Trae Young, Colin Sexton, and Luka Doncic. All of these guys look like they could be real star players in the NBA for the future, but it is just too early to tell which is why they will be sitting at eighth.
There are no accolades for this draft class because they were all rookies and didn't do too much.
7. 2017 NBA Draft Class
While this class has many young prospects who are already making a name for themselves such as Lonzo Ball, Lauri Markkanen, and De'Aaron Fox it is still too early to just most of these players. This is one of the few drafts that is going to be discussed on this list that has a good upside of talent all scattered throughout the draft and in a few years I bet this draft could be a top five in the near future.
So far, no accolades have been recorded of significant importance.
6. 2015 NBA Draft Class
This might be controversial this low, with the 2015 NBA Draft giving us a fair amount of star talent. Stars include Karl-Anthony Towns, Kristaps Porzingis, Devin Booker, and D'Angelo Russell. This draft aside from the 2013 NBA Draft, the one which it doesn't get enough recognition. This is largely due to Devin Booker not being an all-star yet, but is clearly an all-star talent.
Here below, are the accolades this draft has got so far:
- 3x All-Stars
- 1x All-NBA Team
5. 2013 NBA Draft Class
This class similar to 2015, has a goldmine of underrated players. This draft also has the most borderline all-stars including Rudy Gobert, and CJ Mccollum. There are also all-star players that were produced in this draft such as Victor Oladipo and Giannis.
Here below, are the accolades this draft has got so far:
- 1x MVP
- 2x All-Stars
- 2x Defensive Player of the Year
- 3x Most Improved Player
- 4x All-NBA Team
- 6x All-Defensive Teams
4. 2010 NBA Draft Class
The class of 2010 has produced many all-star level players, but none of these players have really became superstars. Notable players include Paul George, Gordon Hayward, John Wall, and DeMarcus Cousins. While all these players have had their moments, it is difficult to judge players in this draft as most of the top players have dealt with serious injuries.
Here below, are the accolades this draft has got so far:
- 4x All-Stars
- 1x Most Improved Player
- 8x All-NBA Team
- 6x All-NBA Defensive Team
3. 2012 NBA Draft Class
The draft that has produced the second most all-stars in recent history, with Damian Lillard, Anthony Davis, Bradley Beal, and others in the mix. While I would say this draft has arguably the most talent, the other two drafts above this have MVP players in them so that is why this one is third.
Here below, are the accolades this draft has got so far:
- 6x All-Stars
- 10x All-NBA Teams
- 5x All-Defensive Team
- 1x NBA Champion
2. 2011 NBA Draft Class
This draft has produced the most all-stars in the last decade, and also is tied in defensive player of the year wins with 2013. Notable players include Kawhi Leonard, Kyrie Irving, Klay Thompson, Kemba Walker and many more.
Here below, are the accolades this draft has got so far:
- 7x All-Stars
- 3x NBA Champions
- 2x Defensive Player of the Year
- 10x All-NBA Teams
- 10x All-Defensive Team
1. 2009 NBA Draft Class
This is the best draft class in the last decade, producing multiple all-stars and multiple MVP players. This class is absolutely loaded with players like Stephen Curry, James Harden, and Blake Griffin.
Here below, are the accolades this draft has got so far.
- 6x All-Stars
- 2x MVPs

- 19x All-NBA Teams
- 2x All-Defensive Team
