Sfc 3 Welterweight Predictions

Updated on February 19, 2020

The Welterweights make their "official" debut here at SFC 3, following their opening tournament!

Going through this card, we see a mixture of new and familiar faces. It'll be tricky to predict every fight here, as some of these guys only have a single night of experience... but that won't me from trying!

Note: "League Prediction" is based off the time of this writing

Welterweight Opener: #9 Conrad Wallace vs #10 Derrick Riggins

Derrick Riggins suffered a submission loss at the hands of Dax Lewis literally as the first round of their fight was coming to an end. I know he's a new fighter, but something like that simply cannot fly if you want to go far in the SFC. Conrad Wallace lost to Sim Franco Jr., but it was a competitive match. I'm going with Wallace here.

My Prediction: Wallace, early Rnd 2 KO

League Prediction: Wallace (15-14)

#7 Mason Stonewall vs #8 Luca Brasi

Mason Stonewall is a representative of the Apex Predators in the Welterweight division, so he wants to make his team proud. Beating Luca Brasi would be a good start for that mission. Brasi lost his debut fight to eventual champion Dame White. In order for Brasi to win this match, I think he needs to take this fight to the ground, as that appeared to be Stonewall's weakness in his last fight. Unfortunately for Brasi, I don't think Mason will allow that to happen.

My Prediction: Stonewall, early Rnd 2 KO

League Prediction: Stonewall (23-6)

#5 Sim Franco Jr. vs #6 Akira Cesaro

In what could be the fight of the night, Sim Franco Jr. squares off against Team LCA member Akira Cesaro. Franco Jr. looked great in his round one victory in the tournament, despite losing to Dax Lewis in the second round. Franco Jr. looks like he has great potential in this division, and he looks to show off his ability in this match. Cesaro got a Middleweight win over Qua'Sean DaaKingo just a couple hours before getting knocked out in round 3 by Isaiah Mackron in the first round of the Welterweight tournament. Cesaro was quoted as saying "I'll be back, don't you worry. 6 rounds in 2 hours takes a toll". Now that "The Buzzsaw" is fresh, we will see if he can back up those words.

My Prediction: Cesaro, early Rnd 3 KO

League Prediction: Cesaro (16-13)

#3 Shawn Hooker vs #4 Isaiah Mackron

This should be an interesting fight between two guys who made it pretty far in the tournament, yet their paths never crossed. Shawn Hooker defeated Mason Stonewall and earned himself a round 2 bye, before being KO'd by Dax Lewis in round 3. Hooker believes he had a legitimate shot to win that fight, but in order to climb back into that position, he will need to beat Isaiah Mackron first. Mackron defeated Cesaro before losing to eventual champion, Dame White. The winner of this fight just may be getting a title match at SFC 4, and I think Mackron will come away victorious.

My Prediction: Mackron, mid Rnd 2 KO

League Prediction: Hooker (17-11)

SFC 3 Welterweight Main Event: Welterweight Championship #1 Dame White(c) vs #2 Dax Lewis

In our first ever Welterweight main event, we also have our first ever Welterweight title defense. In this matchup we'll have a rematch of the tournament finals between the 4-0 champion, Dame White, and challenger Dax Lewis.

White looked surprisingly impressive throughout the entirety of the tournament, and ended up earning a round 3 bye after his win over Isaiah Mackron. Lewis (as mentioned before), went through Derrick Riggins, Sim Franco Jr., and Shawn Hooker before falling to White in the finals.Lewis has the experience and ability to take the title off of Dame White's shoulders if he finds an opening...

But in the end, I just believe White is too talented and too focused to let his title reign end so quickly.

My Prediction: White, late Rnd 2 KO

League Prediction: Lewis (17-11)
