Sehwag Unlikely to Play next match against Australia

Updated on February 18, 2012

Virendra Sehwag might not be playing the next match against Australia in Brisbane on February 19th 2012, because of his back injury. Sehwag has started showing signs of back injury again because of which he has been out of team for a while in may 2011. It is worth noticing that it was Gambhir's turn out of the new rotation policy to rest and Sehwag and Tendulkar open the batting for India. But because of the injury, Sehwag is likely to miss the next game and in-form Gambhir will open the innings with Sachin Tendulkar.

Gambhir scored a wonderful 91 in the last match against Sri Lanka and missed his century by only 9 runs as he was dismissed run-out.

Meanwhile the whole nation will be looking for Sachin to bat for a while and forget about his century of centuries and play a normal cricket. And if he stays on the crease for a while then there is also a chance for him to score a century.

We hope that Sachin tendulkar scores a century tomorrow!!

Sehwag has scored 8055 runs in 242 One-Day International matches with an average of 35.48 and an amazing strike rate of 104.62. His highest score in One Day match being 219 which is the highest run score made by any batsmen in an International match. He is the Second batsman to score a double century in an ODI. Sehwag has gone not-out on 9 occasions of 236 innings he has batted!

Do You Think Sehwag is responsible for grouping team India in 2 parts

Yes prabal..australia never depend on anyone..they judge everyone on the basis of their present performance and i think it is actually good for them because this "rule of consistent performance" is the key for australia's success in past years.

Ya that's right Prabal. But they missed him dearly but they won not because of their game but because of Lankan foolishness

According to me there is no doubt of pointing be a class player....But australia is a team whose batting order depends not on fame but on game......

But they should respect a player like Ponting. You yourself will see the changes

I dont see fault of clarke in this..Australians always followed this thing.. they dont entertain anyone who underperforms and ponting was not performing for a long time..

    • Ramkeyviswa profile image

No. Anyway Ponting is a class player and Clarke will face the consequences

Yes..ponting's retirement will reduce the experience in the team..but australia is a team that doesnt rely on any one player..so i dnt think this will affect australia much

Ya correct. But now, Ponting's retirement will be a big blow for Australia

Oh..yes..but unfortunately this year sehwag could not repeat anything like that...i hope that in the next match sehwag performs well..otherwise dhoni will try to kick him out of the team for rohit sharma..

If Sehwag will play then surely Sachin and Sehwag will be opening the batting, and i think rohit sharma should not play tomorrows match. And I dont like parthiv patel also. Why dont the selectors chose dinesh kartik instead of him!

      Prabal 5 years ago

It will be interesting to watch that who will open the batting for tomorrow's match.....As parthiv patel will be there...

yes prabal! not using jadeja was real bad decision and he had to suffer for that. If he would have used his spinners more instead of umesh yadav or any other pacer for some overs then he would have not suffered a ban for slow over rate. anyways it proved good for the team as Sehwag or Gambhir will be leading the team in tomorrow's match

Mohitmitm u r ryt.....Dhoni's decision of using zaheer in first 40 overs was wrong......Dhoni's decision of not using jadeja was also wrong....he should have used jadeja as his part tym spinners was doing well.......

Sachin failed again to score a century and yes dhoni is afool to use zaher khan in first 40overs and making stupid decisions

Dhoni is not believing on his bowler that is irfan.......Its very sad news for a team.....Dhoni is fool

Wondering why sehwag is not playing today's game......One more topic to think upon that why dhoni is not giving irfan the chance to bowl in slog overs...
