Smith and Wesson M&P 40c
The breakdown of features
As with ALL firearms. CHECK TO SEE IF THEIR LOADED. Clear the chambler, observe the breach. And remove the magazine when working, or cleaning on the gun. Keep you finger off the trigger. Treat the gun as if it is loaded at all times. This gun has a safety built in the trigger and your finger has to be pulling on it to move the trigger to fire. Never point the barrel at someone or anything you dont intend on discharging a round at. OK , now that thats all said......
Now here is a pistol with a well balance of feel and power. And it sounds really cool to. 40 cal is really a 10mm short in a neat way. Has a much better thow down than a 9mm.
This little gun has all the nice things that other pistols only wish they had. The real truth is, I have never shot a Glock. I tried on a Glock @ my local Sporting Goods store, and didnt like the way it felt. Honestly. . . the Glock felt like a toy. I didnt really like the way the trigger felt with that funny safety sticking out on it. The 40c trigger safety is incorperated into the 2 piece design that hinges the trigger itsself as your finger pulls back on it. Really cool design and feel. However, THe version I shot had no thumb safety. SO, staying off the trigger is key to safety. It is double action only.
The new Smith & Wesson Military & Police 40 cal. compact has the best feel in my own oppinion. It has several features that stand out from the rest.
1) left or right handed shooter compatible.
2) slide locks on both sides and LT or RT hand mag release is interchangeable.
3) thumb safety (both sides some models)
4) three changable back straps (s/m/L) CR Trace is a large backstrap grip)
5) medium capacity clip magizine (10 +1) . Pinky extention in photo above really helps stability.
6) slim lines no horns or things sticking out on it.
7) tactial rail for accessories
8) smooth action , very accurate out of box. (trigger safety felt really great)
9) key'd safety interlock ( some versions) comes with a key to insert to unlock firing pin.
The (4) slide guides on the frame are spaced so that dirt and debris cannot cause an issue with slide function. The field break down is very easy and trigger doesnt have to be depressed when re-assembly. a trigger lever has been installed to help with that. There is also a take down lever on the front left side of the frame for easy break down.
Very light weight (20 ounces) to carry. The balance of the pistol is great. A large trigger guard helps if you want to shoot with gloves on. Shooting this gun is a real treat. It e-jects the spent brass rather high and to the right behind you. I have shot with expensive ammo and with general cheap target rounds with no problems or jams. I perfered the 165 gr. FMJ's. THe gun has very little recoil due to the side sitting low at the top of your hand. It is a well made firearm. At 5 yards. spot on. At 7 yards , spot on.
I recently found that a Galco plastic molded holster fits it wonderfully and is easily concealed IWB for those of you that have carry permits. The model I shot had a Crimson Trace laser sight on it. The laser is mounted into the removable backstrap and points down the right side just under the edge of the slide. VERY COOL. . Just squeezing the handgrip turns it on. WOW! its acccurate to. After shooting this pistol at my local range for just a few minutes I could see it was a great design. THe sights are very easy to see. And with over 100 rounds shot during trial run, didnt heat up all that much. Way to go Smith. The price for this pistol on average is about $560. or about $740 with CT laser added at factory. Great investment.
