The Magic City is magic city classic bound

This marks the 69th year that the Magic City of Birmingham is hosting, the Statefarm Magic City Classic. This event ranks number one on Birmingham's list of things to do, as well as overall in Black College Classics. Presented by Coca Cola, this event usually takes place the last Saturday in October in Birmingham, Alabama. The date this year is October 30, 2010. The HBCU's competing in this Classic are as always, The Alabama Agriculture and Mechanical (A&M) University Bulldogs and The Alabama State Hornets. The game of course is centered around a chain of events. Mainly, the Magic City Classic Parade and the tailgating events immediately following. Kickoff is at 2:30pm.

The Magic City Classic Parade takes place in downtown Birmingham, Alabama. It promptly begins at 8am and continues on for a few hours. It usually ends at about 11am. The Magic City Classic Parade is usually hosted by a celebrity ambassor. This year Mrs. "How U Doing" herself, Wendy Williams, the Queen of Gossip, has been named Ambassador.. This should be very entertaining. I'm getting excited, gotta love Wendy Williams. The parade features most of the cities and surrounding areas marching bands both from middle and high schools. There is no admission for the parade but, the traffic during the entire weekend is horrible in the downtown Birmingham area. So u should arrive as early as possible.

Tailgating usually starts immediately after the parade in preparation for and during the game. Alumni and visitors both near and far camp out on Legion Fields Stadium grounds partaking in all forms of socializing. They cook, drink, dance, and even sell school paraphanelia. Most of the festivities are free. Bring money because after the games are the after parties, and believe me everybody is throwing one.

Tickets were available as of October 1, 2010, discounted codes were available for pickup from all State Farm agents offices throughout the state of Alabama. The codes can entered on to Ticketmaster.com and the ticket price after discount will be $17 general admission. Regular priced general admission is $20 advance purchase, and $30 same day. Reserved tickets are $25 advanced purchase and $35 same day. It has been noted that all persons entering the stadium must purchase a ticket.   Group tickets are also available. They can only be purchased from the schools themselves. The price for a group of at least 25 people will be discounted to $18.

 The Shuttle this year is free and available for transportation to and from the game. The shuttle's hours of operation are from (9am-730pm). The Shuttle will have three main pickup locations. First location is the FairGrounds in Five Points West. The address is 2331 Bessemer Road, Birmingham, Alabama, 35208@ 9am-7:30pm

Second Shuttle pickup Location :

The Sheraton Hotel in Downtown Birmingham. Pickup time is 12:00pm-7:30pm. The address is 2101 Richard Arrington Jr. Boulevard  north, Birmingham, Alabama 35203.

Third pickup location is : 7th Avenue North and 23rd Street, pickup time is from 12:00-7:30 pm.
