Although I am not the biggest fan of Billy Corgin for personal reasons, I am a huge fan of wrestling. Corgan and Dave Lagana have revived the old school National Wrestling Alliance and so far it has been extremely entertaining. The current product takes us back to the days of wrestling matches with meaning that also tell a story and times when promos where done live with an interviewer. There is no entrance music or pyro when wrestlers enter the squared circle (which is what helps WWE's product but keeps NWA unique).

Here are the top 10 reasons why the weekly NWA youtube show "Powerrr" has been so successful, all rated out of 10.

10. Question Mark???

The most popular wrestler so far is a grappler called Question Mark???. He is a masked man that looks like Jack Black's character in "Nacho Libre". The NWA Powerrr fans absolutely love the master of Karrattaayy! (as the man himself calls it on twitter). It will be interesting to find out who this Stan Hansen "like" wrestler is down the road.

9. Dokken's Song "Into The Fire"

Nothing helps a nostalgic 70-80's revived wrestling promotion more than a heavy metal song from the same period. The 1984 tune "Into the fire" from Dokken is Powerrr's theme song and is the bands finest moment since "Dream Warriors" from Nightmare On Elm Street 3.

8. James Storm

Apparently Triple H has told James Storm he has a contract with WWE whenever he is ready to go. If this is true it is good to see him at least with a company like NWA who is growing and not Impact Wrestling who seem to be on a down-fall. One would think he needs to try out fulltime WWE soon before time runs out. A World Wrestling Entertainment run similar to his old "Beer Money" tag partner Bobby Roode would be great to see.

7. Ken Anderson

Say what you will about former WWE character Mr. Kennedy but he is a star. He has charisma and is a solid worker and would be an asset to any up and coming wrestling promotion. His gut may be a little bigger now but so are NWA's chances of success with Miisstteerrr Anderson...Anderson!

Top 10 Out Of 10 Rating: ☆☆☆☆☆☆☆ 7/10

6. Thunder Rosa

The former womens wrestler known as Kobra Moon has been booked as a monster from day one. Although she is not the biggest female she still comes across as an unbeatable force. She could be WWE's Dakota Kai's twin sister in a future storyline?. Thunder Rosa has a small amount of experience in MMA as well.

Top 10 Out Of 10 Rating: ☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆ 8/10

5. Jim Cornette

Jim Cornette and his colour commentary helped NWA with it's old school "feel". He has since quit because of a joke he made on air which offended many viewers (which was pre-taped six weeks in advance but the promotion didn't see a problem with until the online backlash) . In these "PC" times it is hard not to offend someone especially when it comes to descriptive comedy.

No doubt Jim will undergo the "Hulk Hogan" treatment of laying low for a few years after saying the wrong thing before all his "haters" welcome him back with open arms.

Top 10 Out Of 10 Rating: ☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆ 8/10

4. Aaron Stevens

WWE's character Damien Sandow has a talent of re-inventing his cocky stuck up wrestling persona and in NWA his William Shakespeare inspired promos have been top notch. The "No eye contact" rule is insanely funny. He has teamed up with NWA's fan favourite male wrestler who was mentioned earlier, the enigma...Question Mark???!!!.

3. Nick Aldis

The man with the former "Magnus" gimmick is a good choice as the NWA Worlds Heavyweight Champion. Although he comes from the Harley Race camp he is in the mould of the limousine riding, suit wearing champion Ric Flair and his promo's are usually on song. My prediction is this modern day English version of The Nature Boy will be the "face of the company" for a long while.

2. Kamille

The storyline of whether Kamille will ever "speak" on camera has been done to death in wrestling but it is working. A fairly new and unknown talent in sports entertainment the stunning Kamille ticks all the boxes for a gimmick like this. Maybe Nick Aldis wasn't the best choice for her partner as everyone knows Nick is married to Mickie James but for Kamille it is a good leg-up being beside the world champ.

Top 10 Out Of 10 Rating: ☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆ 8/10

1. Eli Drake

Eli might be a white version of the attitude era's Rock character but he pulls it off in his own unique way. Eli has the ability and charisma to be a future holder of the "ten pounds of gold". The man's promo work is tremendous.

Top 10 Out Of 10 Rating: ☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆ 8/10

There are also a few Honorable mentions as well. Past World Wrestling Entertainment talent Melina debuted a few weeks ago and can only be a good acquisition for the National Wrestling Alliance. It is yet to be seen whether she will be a wrestler or in a managerial type role.

CM Punk's ex-best friend Colt Cabana has not only won the National Heavyweight Title from James Storm but has also spoken about doing his podcast "The Art Of Wrestling" on a much less regular basis now. Expect to see alot more of Cobana on the weekly Powerrr program.

In conclusion it is no secret I am a WWE fan of over twenty years and over the last month I have seen about an hour of WWE footage in a four week period that included the return of CM Punk to WWE on Fox, Survivor Series and NXT War games. In that same period I have seen every NWA Powerrr episode.
