Top 10 Batsmen in Tests 2014

The International Cricket Council has released the batsmen ranking for the year 2014. It is rating on the last 12 months of performance from the Cricketers of the World. There are some interesting names added to the list. The only format which need class and patience in playing cricket is the Test. The batmen who have temperament of playing a long innings is set for the five day match. As T20 matches are played it is very difficult to cope up with the test matches.

Let us see the players who are in the top ten lists of Test players who made their name. Find the names of the players with their record in test as follows:

1. K.C. Sangakkara: Sangakkara plays for the Lankan team and is one of the veterans of the game having many records in his name. He with Jayawardene has played a vital role for their team. He made his test debut in the year 2000 against the South Africans at Galle, Srilanka. Then he went on to Captain the side with a good record. Now he is the number one batsman in Test matches because of his performance from last six to eight months.

2. A B Devilliers: The man who is best in scoring fast in the cricket world has shown some good temperament by playing a slow run getting in test. He has performed well from the last eight months that helped the team win the match against some strong teams. He is in good knick from last 10 months which gave him the second place in test cricket this year.

3. S. Chanderpaul: He is one senior player of the West Indian squad. HE is called the Wall of the team. He is one of the legends of the game still playing. He is best player after Brain Lara who is having many records under his name. Many of his fellow mates retired from the game but still he is playing with full form. The sentence “age does not matter” suits him a lot. From 12 months he has played his part to help the team win some test and also draw other games.

4. A.D. Mathews: The present Lankan captain is leading from the front with some good form this year. He has played some good cricket in ODI and also test matches. There are many games played under him and also have won test match and also test series against the leading teams. He is good in all forms of the game and shown some example to the young cricketers how to play with consistency.

5. H.M. Amla: The best test batsman of last year is still continuing his form in test cricket with hundreds and two hundreds in his name. He has helped the team to win the match one handedly. The Australian series was a night mare for the South Africans as they were not able to play the bowling of Johnson and other Australian bowlers. He was the only player in the test series who scored hundreds to save the game from the Aussies. He is still the fifth batsman in the list of test batsmen of the year 2014.

6. Younus Khan: The warrior of Pakistan who just made headline in the Cricketing world by scoring back to back centuries against the Australian team. He is the backbone of the test team from last few years after the retirement of some great players. He is an old players of the team as per age is concerned but not in the Cricket field. HE showed his experience against the best team in the world but scoring two centuries and a double hundred in back to back test match played at Dubai.

7. D.A. Warner: The Opening batsmen of the Australian team had some issue with the form last year as he had bad starts for the team in the test matches and even ODI matches. There were many problems in his carrier from last two years. Having in and out from the team has show some character by playing some big innings in the last three to four months that have gained him to the seventh spot in test ranking.

8. Misbah-ul-Haq: The record breaker from the Pakistan team Misbah-Ul-Haq is in the eight spot and also has helped the team win the match against the strong Australian team. There were many complaints against his captaincy and also as a player. His form was also bad last year with many losses in test. But every thing changed from last two months that has pulled him to this position.

9. Ross Taylor: The only New Zealander who is in the list of best batsmen this year. He performed well to help the team win a series. His centuries were the main reason for the victory. He is back in form after some bad two years in test matches. Then he returned with a strong form by hit centuries for the country.

10. J.E. Root: This England batsman is the key for the team for a draw in some test matches. He made his debut against the Indians in the year 2012 which was played in Nagpur. He was the One Day player and now has shown some consistence in test matches and is presently in the tenth spot in the list. He scored a double century for the team later this year and also is the highest score till date. Totally he has scored five centuries for the team in the last two years.

This list may change in days to come. But the hard work and consistence has shown these cricket players to be in the top ten test batting list.
