Unique Bowling Ball Designs

Updated on November 10, 2011

Bowling balls with unique designs can be a fun addition to any bowler’s arsenal. They can be a bright, colorful and sometimes humorous contrast to regular bowling balls.

The unique designs of bowling balls also make great conversation pieces. Imagine being the center of attention after pulling one of these balls out of your bowling bag.

These distinctive bowling balls are great novelty gifts. They are priced relatively lower than performance bowling balls.

Bowling balls with unique designs usually have a polyester coverstock. I am guessing there is higher demand for performance bowling balls that look like the balls the pros are using.

Many people buy these for use as spare balls. Since they want a plastic ball anyway, why not get one with a unique design?

In theory, there is no limit to the number of designs you can place on a bowling ball. I wonder if there is a market for custom designed bowling balls.

Here are a few bowling balls with unique designs that I’ve found from manufacturer websites. I’ve roughly grouped them into categories.

Animal Designs

These balls have animal themes. The cow and leopard print balls are really cute! These balls are manufactured by Brunswick.

Sports Theme

If you are a sports fan, then you can let everyone know your favorite sport (other than bowling of course). These sports themed bowling balls are no longer in production, but you can check out all designs at the Storm website.

Skull Balls

Skull bowling balls are the coolest bowling balls you can find. You can use them to get attention or intimidate your league opponents.

Some bowling balls also come in bright patterns. These designs are more subtle compared to animal or skull balls, but they are equally interesting.
