WWE Evolution 2018 Predictions

Updated on October 25, 2018

This Sunday is the first ever all-women's (WWE) pay-per-view. Honestly, it seemed quite interesting at first, but as a result of lazy booking, lack of significant storylines, and an over reliance on past stars, I'm kinda over this event already.

The actual main event (Rousey vs Nikki Bella) is pretty lackluster, while there's only one match that I'm actually looking forward to (Becky Lynch vs Charlotte), so as a result, I'm basically trudging through the cereal to get to the prize inside (sucky metaphor, I know).

Anywho, we will be going through the entire card anyway match by match, and I'll predict the winners of each contest.

Rhea Ripley vs Isla Dawn (NXT UK Women's Championship)

Winner: Rhea Ripley

Io Shirai vs Toni Storm (Mae Young Classic Tournament Finals)

Winner: Toni Storm

Natalya, Sasha Banks, & Bayley vs The Riott Squad

This is one of those matches that don't seem to have a purpose other than squeezing more women (and another match) on the card. One would expect Natayla to be involved in the storyline with her close friend Ronda Rousey (especially since the Bellas outnumber her, 2 to 1), and another very good match that could have taken this place would be Sasha Banks vs Bayley, but WWE screwed that story up again.

At the very least, these women would make more sense participating in the Battle Royal for a future title shot, but I guess that makes too much sense. Either way, the faces have to get the win here (despite Ruby Riott being an absolutely fantastic worker).

Winners: Natalya, Sasha Banks, & Bayley

Kairi Sane vs Shayna Baszler (NXT Championship)

Winner: Kairi Sane

16 Woman Battle Royal

If what I said earlier happened (the participants in the six woman tag match being in this one), I'd have Ruby Riott win it. Since this isn't the case however, I feel very good about giving the win to Ember Moon.

Since her call up from NXT, she's proven to be one of the best female performers on the entire main roster. While still young, Moon has a great chance of having a successful career, and that very well could start on this night.

Winner: Ember Moon

Becky Lynch (c) vs Charlotte Flair (Last Woman Standing for Smackdown Women's Championship)

The main event in my eyes, this has also been Smackdown's hottest angle to many as of late. Becky Lynch's current attitude, along with her in ring and mic work help make her a great Smackdown Women's champion. Her history with Charlotte Flair (who's also a great wrestler) only helps with their chemistry.

I have Lynch retaining the title here, as I don't think cutting her reign short helps anybody too much. The current champ is on fire (pun intended), and WWE would be foolish to extinguish the flame before they get all they can out of it. However, the one way I can see Flair winning here is if she pulls off some absolutely heel tactics to get the job done. Doing this would move the story along, and develop Charlotte's character, keeping the story between these two fresh and exciting. While this would be a fine route to travel, I can definitely see the former happening more than the latter.

Winner: Becky Lynch

Trish Stratus & Lita vs Alexa Bliss & Mickie James

Winners: Trish Stratus & Lita

Ronda Rousey (c) vs Nikki Bella (Raw Women's Championship)

The main event in WWE's eyes, Ronda Rousey will defend her title against Nikki Bella. I'm not excited for this match at all. I'm sure the in-ring work will be fine (not terrible, but not spectacular) but the story just doesn't interest me. Why did the Bellas wait so long to turn? Where's Natalya when Rousey is outnumbered? Why didn't anybody else feel worthy of challenging for the title before all of this happened? There are too many questions that don't add up.

There's no question that the champ will retain. I think there's a 95% chance it'll go the way we expect (Nikki maintains control, Rousey fights back, Brie interferes, maybe Natalya helps, Armbar, submission), but that 5% chance sees Brie turn face and cost Nikki the match, since she's also on Smackdown with her extreme babyface husband, Daniel Bryan. I hope this doesn't happen, as I would rather not see Nikki vs Brie in 2018.

Winner: Ronda Rousey
