Weekend Wristlock: 3 Reasons Why the Bar Should Break Up

Josh has been a wrestling fan his whole life and loves to write about it. He hopes that you enjoy his work as much as he did when making it.

The WWE has a strange fascination with pairing two singles stars together as a "tag team" during a feud. There are plenty of examples of it not working out (the Awesome Truth and Santino Marella and Vladimir Kozlov come to mind), while quite a few have (Team Hell No, Rated RKO).

Cesaro and Sheamus should go with the latter. As four time Raw tag team champions, they have the resume to hold up with plenty of opposing tandems when it comes to accomplishments. The Bar has been a great addition to the tag division over the past two years or so, but maybe it's time to go in a different direction.

The Tag Division is Fine

I mentioned they are four time Raw tag champs, yet have barely been seen since being drafted over to SmackdownLive (other than a couple matches with The New Day). This is because the tag team division was good before they arrived, and will still be in good shape if/when they ultimately split up.

Other than the current champions, The Bludgeon Brothers, this division consists of The New Day, The Usos, The Goodbrothers, the newly reunited Team Hell No, and the freshly debuted Sanity. With SmackdownLive being a two hour show, it's not likely the tag division will see too much more air time than they are currently getting, which could mean a team or two could be out of the picture for a while.

Fresh Matchups

Imagine the potential matches and rivalries we could witness with Sheamus and Cesaro as singles wrestlers. Battles such as Sheamus vs Jeff Hardy, Cesaro vs Samoa Joe, Sheamus vs AJ Styles, or Cesaro vs Shinsuke Nakamura would all be great matches to watch.

None of these have happened in WWE in quite a while, and Cesaro vs Nakamura has never happened in the company. The addition of two more singles competitors to the mid-card and main event scene (more on that in a second) freshens up the weekly matchups and potential feuds, which would easily make SmackdownLive even more enjoyable to watch.

Give Cesaro A Push

People have been clamoring for this one for years, yet WWE seems to refuse to push the button. Cesaro has never been a main event player on Raw nor Smackdown, yet has the tools to do so. The "Swiss Superman" has the look, the wrestling ability, and is over with the crowd more than many other guys above him are.

While he doesn't have stellar mic skills, that can be remedied by giving him a manager to be his mouthpiece if he stays a heel. If he turns face, Cesaro doesn't have to cut long promos, just give him a few lines to say, and let his skill do the talking.

Main event feuds with the likes of AJ Styles, Samoa Joe, Daniel Bryan, and Shinsuke Nakamura would be incredible fun to watch. Having the WWE title on the line in those matches would only make those matches even better.

Give Cesaro his push, WWE. We would love to see it, and he absolutely deserves it.
