Weekend Wristlock: 5 Predictions For Extreme Rules 2018

Updated on July 14, 2018

On a card full of intriguing matchups, Extreme Rules has the makings of a solid card. In this article, I will go through and give my personal input on certain matches and how they will go down.

Rather than go through the full card match by match, I will give five of my predictions for the event.

These are all my opinion, so I may miss a nugget or two. If you have something to add to my list, or a list of your own, feel free to share in the comment section below!

We are a group of long-time wrestling fans living in the Tri-State area. We have results, news, and so much more!

Roman Beats Lashley

In a match between the two big men, this result (I believe) would mean Reigns would move on to something else at Summerslam. This feud quickly became personal, and finally came to blows on this week's Raw.

I could easily see Lashley getting the win here if they want to have the rematch at the next pay-per-view, but I'm going to say Reigns wins it here, and some kind of big #1 contender's match happens on the next show.

We See Ronda Rousey Involved

Obviously we're going to see Rousey during her title defense against Nia Jax, since she already announced she's getting a front row ticket. Being that this is an extreme rules match, I'd expect Rousey to find a way to get involved somehow.

I could easily see her being provoked by Bliss and/or Mickie James, then assaulting them both before being escorted out of the building. Obviously the Goddess will still manage to sneak out with the title intact, giving Alexa both bragging rights, and more issues with the UFC hall of famer starting the next night on Raw.

Which team gets the win here?

Sanity puts New Day Through Tables

Since debuting on Smackdown, Sanity hasn't had an impressive win/loss record (they're winless, as a matter of fact). This is not how you want to treat a forced such as these guys, if you want them to be taken seriously.

The New Day can afford to take a loss, since they're virtually untouchable at this point. Their merchandise sales aren't going anywhere anytime soon, and they are former four time tag team champions.

I predict Sanity will get the win by putting one member of New Day through a table... then the other member as well, before assaulting the third member and posing over the trio.

Dolph Retains by Disqualification

Creatively, this is the match with the most possible outcomes. Between Seth Rollins and Dolph Ziggler, this match is going to be 30 minutes of absolutely awesome wrestling. The fact that Drew McIntyre will be at ringside adds much intrigue to the ending.

There are rumors that Brock Lesnar won't be wrestling at Summerslam. If this is true, then you could give Rollins the title back here, and keep him as the face of Raw.

I believe this will come down to the final moments. The score will be tied (I'm predicting 4-4), and with about ten seconds left, Drew will slide into the ring and slap Ziggler in the face, to draw a disqualification (ironic how it's called the "Extreme Rules" pay-per-view, isn't it?) and a very cheap way to retain.

Ziggler will escape and if you want to break up the pair, have Dolph become unbearable and talk nonstop about how he beat Rollins without any help, before McIntyre gets annoyed enough, and challenges him at Summerslam, while Rollins joins Roman Reigns in some sort of Universal title #1 contender's match at the August pay-per-view.

Styles Turns Rusev Away

In a match that's been overdue for years, Rusev finally gets his shot at a major championship. AJ Styles has had a phenomenal (pun intended) run with the WWE title, and I don't see that ending here.

In a very good match (what should be the main event), I see Styles leaving Extreme Rules with the title after a Phenomenal Forearm. Aiden English will try to get involved like he always does, but will get ejected from ringside in the process.

Rusev is a fantastic character, and one who needs chances like this more often. Unfortunately, I don't see his dreams coming true here, but hopefully he'll receive many more opportunities in the upcoming future.

Which match should main event the show?
