Crowell, RG3 and the Browns defense finally earn Cleveland a 20-17 win over San Diego. RG3 concussed.
The Cleveland Browns gave their long suffering fans an early Christmas present. They held on to beat the San Diego Chargers 20-17 in Cleveland to end their 17 game losing streak dating back to last season.
RG3 made his fourth start and lasted until the 4th quarter. He left with a concussion after being sacked seven times. RG3 played better, or shall we say good enough to earn the Browns their first win of the 2016 season going 17 for 25 for 164 with no picks and no TDs. He rushed for 42-yards on six carries.
Browns RB Crowell was effective enough, scoring two TDs and rushing for 54-yards on 16 carries. Kessler played the balance of the 4th quarter. He went 2 for 3 for 11-yards and was sacked twice.
It was the Browns defense that played a major role in their long overdue win. They blocked a 32-yard FG attempt with less than four minutes to play. And with regulation time about to expire, the Chargers missed a 45-yard FG which would of tied the game.
Expect to see Cody Kessler close-out the season against the Steelers in Pittsburgh. Has RG3 done enough to be welcomed back next season? That remains to be seen. Having not thrown a single TD pass in four games won't help his cause nor will being injured twice resulting in missing 12 games once help his cause.
