Right here we go again it's the World cup again, a month of the men in our lives ranting at the TV, interspersed with swearing and tears. So buckle up, we are in for a rocky ride. So how can we survive? How about watching the world cup with them. I know, we don't understand the off side rule and it, dare I say It, a bit boring. Cristiano Ronaldo
Cristiano Ronaldo, is a 25 year old Portuguese footballer who plays as a Forward and serves as captain of the Portuguese national team. His boyish good looks hids the fact that he can be a bad lad on the pitch. During a quarter-final match against England Ronaldo's Manchester United teammate Wayne Rooney, was sent off for stamping on Portugal defender Ricardo Carvalho. The English media speculated that Ronaldo had influenced the referee decision by aggressively complaining to the referee. In the replays Ronaldo was seen winking at the Portuguese bench following Rooney's dismissal. After the match, Ronaldo insisted that Rooney was a friend and that he was not pushing for Rooney to be sent off. However the backlash was tremendous and he was booed by English fans when he returned to play at Manchester united.

At 33 Thierry Henry, still has his good looks and charm . Playing either on the wing or striker for the French team he had the honour of being part of the world cup winning French team in 1998. Off the pitch, as a result of his own experience, Henry is an active spokesperson against racism in football. Some of us might remember him from his adverts. Appearing in the Renault Clio commercials he popularized the phrase "Va-va-voom"

Kaka is the 28 year old mid fielder that plays for Brazil. Kaka comes from a very influential and rich family. While young he played several sports including tennis. It wasn't until he was 15 that he chose to concentrate solely on football. On personal front, Kaka is a firm believer of God. His favorite book is Bible and he carries a copy of it wherever he goes. He is also working with United Nations to fight against hunger and poverty. Since 2004, he has served as an Ambassador Against Hunger for the United Nations' World Food Programme, the youngest to do so at the time of his appointment.

Because of this Irish link In 2002, Cahill expressed desire to play for the Republic of Ireland's 2002 World Cup team, and even considered taking legal action against FIFA for their refusal to allow his change of nationality. However he made his debut for the Australian national team in 2004. He has scored the first goal by an Australian at a FIFA World Cup, and has also scored the most goals by any Australian in the World Cup so far.

Yoann Gourcuff is the 23 year old midfielder that plays for the French national team. He comes from a very athletic family, his mother played basketball and his father played football. He also played tennis when younger and opted for football when a teenager. Yoann played internationaly in the under 15, the under 16 squad and the under 21's. Gourcuff earned his first call up to the senior team in 2008 for the team's friendly match against Sweden.
David Villa
The 28 year old striker for the Spanish squad. Villa made his international debut in 2005 and he has since participated in two major tournaments: 2006 World Cup and Euro 2008. He scored three goals at the 2006 World Cup and was top scorer at Euro 2008 with four goals.
