A Gold Facial to Rejuvinate Skin

Facial using 24 karat gold
Facial using 24 karat gold | Source

What Is A Facial?

A facial is a generic term for a variety of procedures for the face. Massage, oils, creams along with steam are used to accomplish certain skin needs:

  • Black heads are removed
  • Skin irritations and other skin problems are addressed.
  • Skin ex-foliation is available.
  • Facial masks can be ordered.
  • Facial peels are offered.
  • A variety of moisturizers of your choosing are available.
  • And of course a complete gentle face cleansing is the first step for your facial.

Now let's take a virtual trip to visit a few different types of facial spas. As you view the photos, sit back and relax, releasing all body and facial tension. Breathe through the nose and out through the mouth to begin the relaxation process. This can be done anytime and your skin will thank you.

Gold Facials - Your Skin Is Worth It's Weight In Gold

And you thought gold was only for wearing jewelry. Not anymore. Because gold is readily absorbed by the skin and is the softest of all metals. Here are some proven facts you should know about gold facials:

  • They accelerate cell growth and reverse skin oxidation. These gold facials are becoming more popular all the time among the rich and famous.
  • The main ingredients for this particular facial are gold cream and gold gel. These contain 24-carat gold, aloe vera, wheat germ oil and sandalwood
  • Moreover these facials benefit both dry and oily skin types.
  • Gold facials have given researchers an opportunity to explore the medicinal properties of the multifaceted metal Gold.

About Diamond Facials

This particular facial was a surprise to me. Using my imagination, I proceeded to visualize how this might work. First the diamonds would be cleaned. Then they would have to be grinded down to a fine power which would be applied to my face. The dermabrasion would begin and ouch! Well...something like that.

Actually this is more to the truth:

  • Using crushed diamonds this is one of the latest breakthroughs in dermatology.
  • The diamond peel treatment is much like a microdermabrasion.
  • It is a less invasive and more comfortable process because there is no chance of stray crystals damaging the skin.

...Or Just Do What I Do

Audrey Hunt's quick and cheap facial:

  • Open your pores for a fast cleanse by inhaling the steam from your morning oatmeal.
  • Use left over oatmeal to soften dry skin.
  • Before pouring milk on the oatmeal, measure out about 1/2 cp and sponge on to face.
  • Use favorite wine or vadka for astringent. (pour a little for yourself)
  • Sit back, put your feet up, and indulge in a box of chocolates (anti-oxidents).

Well it works for me.

What About Facials For Men?

Facials for men are being booked along with facials for women. Especially among the younger and middle age groups.

Along with stars like Tom Cruise and Tom Hanks, appointments for men's facials are showing a waiting list. All that stage and movie make-up begins to take it's toll causing extreme dryness and skin problems. And then theres the weather that film stars are exposed to which causes another whole set of problems.

Facials for men are growing by leaps and bounds. Popular spas for men in Los Angeles California even boast a waiting list to book an appointment.

How many facials have you had?

If you really want to try the Brilliance 24K gold mask, look on groupon. They have them twelve in a pack. Originally $3999 on sale through Groupon: $79.99. Apparently, not many wanted them bad enough to pay almost $4000 for twelve. It's still too rich for my blood. :)

Cloverleaf - Just this week I saw Kathy Lee Gifford on television having the gold facial. Wow! She looked exactly like the photo at the top of this hub.

I'll just stick to my steam and oatmeal facial. :)

Thanks for dopping by and thanks again for your inspiring hub on the 30 day challenge. I am starting tomorrow!

Vocalcoach, I didn't even know there were such things as gold and diamond facials...VERY extravagant! You did a great job of finding something new and interesting for this TREASURE of a hub!

      Voted up and awesome!

laral - This is exactly my reaction to these gold and silver facials. And even if I had money to spend on such a luxury, I would choose to feed the poor instead. Thank you for your visit. Hope to see you soon.

Hi Vocalcoach. Well written and informative hub. I can hardly image that someone can crash few diamonds to make a mask but I am not surprise that probably someone out there is in the position to afford it!I would probably prefer the oatmeal mask still

acaetnna - I enjoyed researching this topic. Certainly learned a lot. Something a little different from my usual hubs. Knowing that you took time to visit and comment just made my day :)

Denise Handlon - What a fantastic gift from your daughter, cardelean! My son did the same thing for me last year. What a treat...and you have raised her well :)

blaise25 - Oh, thank you! I second your motion...would love to try this if someone else would treat :)

Thank you, Audrey, for bringing this important and essential information to my attention. Cannot believe I've lived this long with no knowledge whatsoever of either diamond or gold facials. Who knew?

Do love your personal suggestions about wine as an astringent - internally that is. Reminds me of my favorite tee shirt: "I love cooking with wine. Sometimes I even put it in the food!"

      Rated up, m'dear.

paradise - It is a bit "over the top" isn't it? As for me - I would rather have gold in my pocket than on my face. I agree that a facial and spa treatment is a lovely treat.

      b. Malin - Evidently there are those who think that if gold is used in a facial it must be worth the price. Just for fun I tried booking an appointment for one and the waiting list was 6-12 wks out. Hard to imagine. Of course I had no intention of making an appointment:)

Thanks for dropping by, my friend and...pass the chocolates, please:)

Pamela - Me, too. I do my own and not so sure mine aren't just as good as gold. As for your hub in the tug of war contest, you have my vote which I will take care of immediately. And...congratulations!

Denise - Lucky girl! And you didn't even invite me along:) Oh well - I will be having oatmeal for breakfast, so at least I can do a facial.

The top of my bucket list is a visit to a full spa with the works! Enjoy yours and think of me (without the gold please). Hugs

agaglia - Falling asleep during a relaxing massage is accomplishing the main goal. Good for you. As for the cost of a Gold Facial, it depends on the quality of gold and whether you do it yourself or visit a spa.

The best home facial using gold is the one listed in this hub (the first one) at amazon. Thanks for your comments.

This is very interesting and the videos were helpful also. I can't imagine affording a facial using gold with its high price. I've always done my own facials due to the expense. Rated up, interesting and awesome.

If you haven't voted in the tug of war contest I would very much appreciate your vote if you think my hub is worthy. Thanks either way. I think this hub might be picked this week as it is very good.

The gold facial really grabbed me. I think it's a bit of a gimmick--for me, the regular facial at the spa works well enough, when I have the money and can afford the time. It's a lovely treat.

always exploring - Well, you're my kind of girl, ruby. Even if I were in a position to afford a gold facial, I would prefer to donate that much money to helping close down "puppy mills". Thanks for dropping by.

Movie Master - So glad that you read this. I found this topic quite educational. I wonder what else the "other half" endulges in that would fascinate me? I'll stick to the oatmeal facial and especially the chocolate. Thank you.

JT Walters - It's always a pleasure to see you my friend.

I am so pleased that you liked my hub and enjoyed the videos. Hope you are doing well. Thank you so much.

Green Lotus - I'm with you on the oatmeal facial. And as for the gold - too many places for that to go instead of on my face:) Thank you, wonderful one!

Sharyn's Slant - I know just what you mean. And finances (or lack thereof) is just one more reason for keeping the "frugal facial." Thanks for taking time to comment Sharyn.

Gold facial, unbelievable!! The oatmeal is really a good one. The hospitals used to give oatmeal baths, so i've read. I must say that i like your idea the best, esp. the chocolates. Well then! I have been deprived. Usually I just give myself a facial with items found in the kitchen. I do have a jade roller though that I use. I purchased it in China Town in NYC and it is a great face massager. Supposedly Chinese women have used them for centuries.
