Weekend Wristlock: 5 Predictions For Money in the Bank 2018

Updated on June 16, 2018

Tomorrow is the eighth annual Money in the Bank pay-per-view. One of the most exciting shows of the year, this is one of the few nights where nearly anything can happen. The briefcase will change the careers of one man and one woman by the end of the night. There are also a couple of title matches to keep an eye on as well.
Rather than go through the full card match by match, I will give five of my predictions for the event.

Elias Tastes Gold

Elias is a crowd favorite and has improved greatly from when he was first called up from NXT. His charisma and mic work has been great, but Elias has not had a sense of direction until a few weeks ago. His assault on Seth Rollins got him an Intercontinental title match, and quite a bit of extra spotlight.

I'm predicting Elias pulls off the upset over the Architect, and sneaks away with the gold, freeing up Rollins to challenge for the Universal championship.

Rousey Submits Jax

Personally, I believe WWE booked themselves into a corner here. Ronda Rouse is too new to be crowned Raw Women's champion in her very first singles match, while it will also be a bad idea to have her lose her first singles match.

Considering the pros and cons of either outcome, I suppose it would be better if Rousey won the title here. Jax is a strange character in that she goes from being bullied to doing the bullying within about month. Jax will be fine without the title, and the former UFC champion will of course be victorious with the Armbar... unless she can't get it in again, and has to use another submission move... taught by a certain Raw General Manager...

Which of these matches are you most excited for?

Knee to Face; Belt to Waist

This Shinsuke Nakamura/AJ Styles feud has been quite unique, and very entertaining. From constant low blows to "I no speak English", the Rockstar has been a tremendous heel since Wrestlemania. He has been chasing the WWE title long enough, however, and now is the time to end Styles' phenomenal (pun intended) title reign in this Last Man Standing match.

Becky Lynch Finally Gets Her Push

Lynch has been a side character, and has played "Charlotte's best friend" for far too long now. Becky has that charm about her, and is very good in the ring. I can't even remember the last time she has had a women's title match. Last year's Money in the Bank winner, Carmella cashed in her briefcase to not only become Smackdown women's champion, but reinvigorate her career.

I predict the same will happen to Becky Lynch. Even a heel turn and cash in on Asuka (if she beats Carmella) would be exciting. Another option would be Alexa Bliss, to keep her around the Raw Women's title picture.

Owens Collects His Contract

I'm really excited for this match, since there are at least five or six possible outcomes that would create buzz and excitement, should they occur. My favorite potential result is Kevin Owens winning the briefcase. Owens is a fantastic heel, and would for a very believable "Mr. Money in the Bank". His constant teasing of a cash-in and strong mic work would make for extremely entertaining television every week.

When he finally goes for the cash-in, the pay off would be well worth the wait. A secondary option (my second favorite possibility) would be Samoa Joe not only winning the briefcase, but cashing it in later that same night against either AJ Styles or Shinsuke Nakamura, whoever wins the Last Man Standing match.

Who wins the men's ladder match?
