No. I think he made too many radical changes. It was a sloppy experiment with too many variables being tested. The complete package didn't pan out. I don't think anyone would disagree that Kelly made their offense ultimately more predictable and less effective.
I do think Kelly probably learned a lot and will be more successful in his next coaching engagement, whether that's in the NFL or not. Maybe that was his real goal?
As for the owners, they don't care about sports science, just their bottom line. They wanted results. If one coach can't provide them in a timely fashion, they'll hand the ball off to someone else they think is headed in that direction.
