    Be prepared!

You will want to make sure that you have all the gear and information you need before you go out on your adventure.

Keep in mind that you will need a map of where you are going, layers in case you run into weather, and some safety tools like a whistle, compass, and utility knife. You will also want to make sure that you have appropriate footwear.

Backpacking is fun, so as long as you are prepared you can't go wrong!

One of the biggest mistake beginner backpackers do is pack TOO MUCH STUFF!  Bring as little as possible.  The more you carry, the more miserable you'll be; The less you carry, the happier you'll be.

My best tip for a beginning backpacker is to make sure your pack is well balanced.  You want to make sure you have equal distribution of weight or you will end up very sore at the end of the night!

Also correct footwear (including inner and outer socks) will make your trek much more comfortable.  Always carry extra Mole Skin!
