The best way to learn yourself is basically through trial and error. Simply lacing up some skates and hitting the rink is a great place to start. Check with your local roller skating rink to see if they offer classes for beginners. Basically the more you do it, the better you get.
Make sure you have the right kind of skates. If you're a beginner skater, I suggest that you check your wheels so that they're not too loose. When your wheels are too loose & you're not used to it, it will make you slip & fall a whole lot more than if they were tighter.
