when my son was little, we just got him a game table from ToysRus. it morphed into three tables: a ping-pong table, a pool table and an air hockey table. it wasn't too small, so adults enoyed playing it, and it wasn't too big so kids could enjoy it and it didn't take up a ton of room. I forget who makes it, but just browse the sporting goods section at ToysRus or Walmart, even. if you are looking for something more serious, just do a search on table tennis hubs and you will see a few hubs on that topic.

Hi Timmartin, this would all depend on what level of play the user is at, the more money you spend on a table the thicker the table top therefore the better the speed and bounce of the ball. saying this you would not want to go out and spend ¬£800 on a table if you are only going to be playing at home. Look into hobby tables for example the Butterfly Compact table http://www.gardengames.co.uk/acatalog/B … Table.html

This is a perfect begginers table.
