How would Lionel Messi do against Stoke or Birmingham?

According to Manchester United brainbox Wayne Rooney, magical Leo Messi would struggle against the likes of Stoke or Birmingham. Do you agree, or has he gone bonkers?

Interesting question. I think he'd stroll round them just as well as he did most of the defences in the Champions League and La Liga this year. He'd certainly make many premiership defenders feel inadequate and show them not to be worth their overinflated pay packets.

I've never rated Rooney myself and think he would struggle in La Liga

I appreciate the sarcasm in the question. I think that the brainbox Rooney may have a point. The likes of Stoke and Birmingham have a number of journeymen defenders and midfielders who would look to prevent Messi from playing football. Look at how Stoke bruised Arsenal when they hosted Arsenal at Britannia Stadium.

If Stoke and Birmingham play proper football, Messi would roast them. However, if they resort to bruising tactics as they are inclined to do against technically skilled and gifted players, Messi might get injured against them.

Well, if it's a cold Tuesday night he'd have a shocker.

I think down at The Britannia on a rainy day Messi might struggle, Against Birmingham he would breeze past them!

Stoke might give him a problem, as they play a very physical game. As for Birmingham, as a Blues supporter myself, I'd say that he'd probably dance around our donkey defenders for fun haha!.
