Can anyone explain Austin Rivers NBA contract to me?
The initial reports I read stated he signed a three year guaranteed contract for $5.8 million with roughly $1.9m his first year. However now I read that the third year is a team option and his base salary for his first year is $2.238m with a similar number his second and (optional) third year. These numbers just dont seem to add up to me. Can anyone explain this to me?
The contract is basically a 2 year deal with 2 club options. What I have found is that he is due:
2,238,360 million in Season 1
2,339,040 million in Season 2
2,439,840 million in Season 3 (Club Option)
3,110,796 million in Season 4 (Club Option)
The guaranteed part comes from what his buyout would be for the 2014 NBA Season basically. I can find the total for what the buy out would be for but I would say around 1.2 million dollars!

The fact that it was the Washington Nationals who signed Werth, instead of the Boston Red Sox, New York Yankees or other obvious candidates or the length and amount of the contract.$18 million a season for a player who is past his prime in terms of...
