I think they will win 2 games, they are just that good.
Then, they'll be watching the tourney from on their own TV sets, same as I will be. It'll feel good again this year to have something in common with Coach K!
My friend Truth from Truth is a Duke fan and I don't want to make Truth angry with me, but I would realistically say Duke can get to the Sweet Sixteen and then will likely be in some trouble. In a comment somewhere I said Duke would lose as soon as they faced a team with a solid inside presence. Duke has actually played a little better on the inside lately and could compete with some teams on the interior now.
Short answer: Sweet Sixteen.
All kidding and razzing aside, I don't feel as confident of an early round loss this year as I have in the past few for this team.
They actually play solid D, can stroke it from anywhere on the court, and yes they don't suck down low...(lemme re-phrase that; They've gotten better inside, as you noted). Keep Zoubek outta foul trouble, then see what shakes out.
It's just so fun to pull against this team, that it's hard to admit that they are virtually a lock for the Sweet Sixteen, before they have to start worrying about getting a plane ticket home...
I've rooted against Duke a time or two, especially when on three occasions they've knocked Kansas out of the Tournament, including in the 1991 championship game. Zoubek is playing some decent ball lately, and I think he is good enough to help 'em this year.
I also tend to agree with some of the ESPN guys who think this is a weak year for bubble teams, which could mean fewer upsets.
We must be the only sports fans still awake.
Yeah, the Bubble has seemed weak for ahile now, even before they started speaking to that fact; You know it's weak when they're trying to decide between Dayton, Ole Miss and Cincy for the final teams, with Rhode Island bouncing back and forth between the 'first four in' and the 'first four out'
All the sports fans work the 9 to 5 shifts I guess, which means Corporate America will shut down for 2 days again next week, just like you pointed out in your Hub.
Not a big Duke fan, but their bracket is soft enough that they'll last until the Elite Eight. Then fall to Villanova.
I agree that Villanova will probably be the team to beat them, but I could see them losing to Purdue in the third round.
I like them to make it to the 'Nova game, but I do think A&M may give them a scare
