Marla Duncan: Fitness Queen of the early 90's
In 1990, Marla Duncan won the Ms Fitness USA contest and was immediately a star. Her physique was amazing and combining that with her natural beauty and one of the best derrieres to grace a magazine, it was obvious that Marla was poised for greatness! During the early 90's, it was impossible to walk past a magazine stand and not see Marla gracing at least one of the covers. it was the beginning of female fitness models and Marla was leading the way.
Marla Duncan: Getting started
Marla Duncan was born in Fairfield California on July 19, 1963. Her father was in the Air Force, which lead to Marla attending many different schools while growing up. At age 16, she began weightlifting in high school. By 1983, Marla was swimsuit modeling for Ujena, and started to compete in beauty pageants and bikini competitions. In 1989, the first Ms. Fitness USA competition was held, and with only 2 weeks of preparation, Marla place in the top 15, out of 60 contestants. The next year, Marla won the title of Ms. Fitness USA.

Marla would generally mix up her workouts constantly. She would train 3 or 4 days in a row and then take 3 days off. Marla would do 4 sets of 8 repititions per exercise. Below is a sample workout for the different muscle groups that Marla would do:

For cardio, Marla would either train on EFX Eliptical riders or do outside activities like riding her mountain bike, rollerblading, or hiking. Marla Duncan loved being outdoors, as can be seen by her beautiful skin color, radiating such a healthy glow, and her sun kissed blonde hair.

During the 1990s, Marla seemed to be everywhere. She appeared on more than 100 magazine covers around the world. One of the more famous people that she inspired was Ms. Olympia Fitness, Monica Brant. "In 1991 I started lifting weights with a friend and saw a photo of Marla Duncan winning a national competition. Her beauty and physique impressed me enough that I wanted to try what she was doing--fitness competitions," If you were aware of fitness and bodybuilding magazines in the early 1990s, then you were surely aware of Marla Duncan. It seemed for a while that she was everywhere.
Marla Duncan: After leaving competition
Eventually, Marla left competition and became a personal trainer. She got married and had a son named Wyatt in 1997. Marla also has appeared in a couple of wrestling videos and even made a DVD, which is very hard to find, called Heavenly Body.
