Why You Need One of Mountain Hardwear's 'Lamina Series' Sleeping Bags
Why You Need One of Mountain Hardwear's Sleeping Bags
Everyone needs a GOOD sleeping bag and they make the perfect bag for you.
To explain why you need one of Mountain Hardwears sleeping bags?
I test a lot of outdoor equipment and my hunting and climbing trips often take me into areas with zero to sub zero temperatures. I carry an adventure specific sleeping bag to sleep snug and warm.
I use Mountain Hardwear's sleeping bags for everything from weekend summer camping trips, to week long (or even longer) Elk Hunting trips.
To explain: Deciding if a bag is the right one, is just a simple choice. Mountain Hardware makes and sells a huge assortment of sleeping bags and their name says it all, 'Mountain Hardwear."
The name alone let's you know they are serious.
Owning a top quality sleeping bag doesn't have to be expensive either, nor do you have to buy a budget sleeping bag to be able to afford one.
The sleeping bags reviewed here--are one's I own and use.
A sleeping bag really only has two uses. Provide warmth and be comfortable. That's it. Beyond that? Anything else is 'extra.'
Mountain Hardwear's philosophy:
"That no single sleeping bag is right for every condition, nor is there a single bag that fit's all.". A sleeping bag's design must fit the conditions. But, the size must fit the user. As an example, a child's requirements are different that those of an adult. THAT: is why you need one of Mountain Hardwear's 'Lamina Series' sleeping bags
A six foot tall guy has different requirements than that does an 11 year old.
A great General Purpose Bag
The Lamina 35 is a great general purpose camping bag. If you're looking for an inexpensive but durable sleeping bag for everyday camping use? Look no further. Besides, it comes with FREE Shipping as well.
Evaluation: Why pay more when you don't have to? Select the right size for you and choose whether you want a right or left zip. Buy yours today and get FREE Shipping as well.
A true 'zero' degree bag
The Lamina 0 is just that, a true zero degree sleeping bag. A bag for when the weather gets cold and you need to stay warm. I use this bag Elk hunting and have even used it in sub zero temps and it still kept me warm. On a side note? When a company offers FREE Shipping with their stuff? Well, for me? That's a tough to pass that option up in today's high cost world.
Evaluation: The great thing about this bag, is that it not only works better than it's designed, but if I have any problems (warranty) I get almost immediate service. My last trip out, I goofed up the zipper. Sent it in and they replaced and shipped it back to me within days. Now that's service.
"Simple Things Make The Difference."
How about a footbox for those freezing nights or having a shoulder height storage bag?
( 1 ) What's a footbox for?
( 2 ) Why is a shoulder height storage box important?
Here's my opinion on the two and why.
Have you ever been camping and found that your feet were cold? The footbox comes in handy for just those reasons. Like maybe during elk hunting season? When I go elk hunting, the average daytime temperature is somewhere between 8 and 15 degrees (Fahrenheit ) , and at night it gets 10-15 below zero. (with wind, it gets much colder of course)
Not only do you learn to sleep with your socks on for warmth, you also slide your gloves over your toes for warmth. But why do all of that, when all you need is a place to slide your feet (inside your bag). If you understand that all of the mass of body warmth is around the torso? That just means there is very little to share for your feet. Heat escapes the body at the head and the feet. The folks at Mountain Hardware have invented a small pouch inside the sleeping bag, just for your feet. The small area allows for heat at your feet to be trapped and not lost. No more gloves on my feet. It makes a huge difference, trust me here!
About the shoulder height storage bag... this is more of a convenience than a necessity, but.... we all deserve a wee bit 'O convenience from time to time right? For example, let's say that you are camping somewhere really cold. Wouldn't you appreciate being able to put on your clean clothes for the next day without having to actually get out of the nice warm sleeping bag? I guarantee you, your clothes will be warmer to put on after having been stored in the sleeping bag all night, than they would be if stored anywhere else. Plus....you don't even have to leave the warmth of the sleeping bag to retrieve them and put them on. Just another reason why you need one of Mountain Hardwear's 'Lamina Series' sleeping bags
Nobody likes a chilling wake up call...dressing in warm clothes? Priceless.
A Bag for Everyone and Every Condition - My next choice for Adventure Specific use
There is no--'One Bag Fit's All'--philosophy at Mountain Hardware. They decided to get into the business of designing, creating, and selling bags for all conditions and ALL sizes of user's. Mountain Hardware has many choices of sleeping bags. Bags not just for anyone and everyone, but for every adventure as well. You just need to pick yours.
A zero and below bag
The right bag for those sub sub zero nights. If the weather is forecast to be harsher where I camp, then this is the bag. I don't use the Lamina 0 degree Bag for everything, because it will keep you really warm, (too warm for me at lower elevations in fact) but when I know it's going to be well below zero, this is the bag. I use a ground cover under my tent and another under my bag. That's it, that's all I need to stay warm.
Evaluation: If you are heading to some place really cold? This is the bag. Here's what you get when you select this bag, choose your size, choose a right or left handed zip and you're set.
Mountain Hardwear Equipment - In closing
As I've stated throughout this review, Mountain Hardwwear makes sleeping bags for all kinds of uses and for all kinds of people of all sizes.
They make bags for men, women and children as well as for any and all climate conditions.
If you are looking for lighter weight sleeping bags or bags for warmer climates? They carry those too, I just listed the 'Lamina Series' bags that I use in some of the harsher climates that I test equipment.
To make a long story longer, Mountain Hardware makes many more bags, both in size, style and use than just the one's I describe here. I like the Lamina series personally, and they all are reasonably priced to go along with their sturdy history and construction.
