Royal Rumble 2020 Predictions

Avid fan of Wrestling writes about WWE, AEW, NJPW. I love to write stories, articles and poems.

This is the best time of the year for all wrestling fans. It is the beginning of the Road to WrestleMania and as usual we kick it off with the Royal Rumble. For me and I’m hoping for most wrestling fans the Royal Rumble is the best Pay-Per-View ever. Every year I am excited for the Royal Rumble PPV mainly because of the Royal Rumble match and since 2018 we have been treated with 2 Royal Rumble matches and is going to be repeated again this year. They are going to be the best matches of the night given the fact that there are a lot of entrants that are unannounced. This is leaving room for lots and lots of surprises.

There are a lot of matches this year, so without wasting anymore time I am going to dive right into the predictions.

Sheamus vs Shorty G

Source

If there was ever a throw away match it is this one. With only a two-week build being barely mentioned in the Go-home Show of SmackDown, I don’t have much to talk about this match either. The only thing I can say is that Sheamus returned recently and although Shorty G is a fantastic wrestler WWE is not planning to do anything big with him anymore. So I pick Sheamus to win this in quick fashion. So that’s done, let’s move on.

Roman Reigns vs Baron Corbin (Falls Count Anywhere Match)

Source

This is a feud that has been going on for ages. Corbin has always had the upper hand in this feud because Corbin had others to do his dirty work for a long time. But this time the odds are evened. Roman has his brothers the Usos in his corner so it is going to be a lot of action with six superstars beating up each other in a one-on-one match. Well, I said that the previous match was going to be quick, and to compensate that this match is going to be long with a lot of shenanigans and will end with finally Roman getting the upper hand.

Andrade(C) vs Humberto Carillo (United States Championship Match)

Source

I am looking forward to this match. Both have had a short but a good feud so far. The fans do not seem to be too invested on Humberto Carillo but I have high hopes for this lad. Both these luchadors are highly talented and very innovative. This match could be one of the best matches of the night. Andrade has been the US Champion for a short while but it does not look like his reign is going to go any further. I feel like Humberto is going to get the win and to be fair it is the right decision. If WWE feel Humberto is not able to connect with the fans even after putting great matches, him loosing is not going to help him any better. So Humberto must win and put on great matches as he always does to be liked by the WWE Universe.

Bayley(C) vs Lacey Evans (SmackDown Women’s Championship Match)

Source

Lacey Evans has improved immensely in a short time and is actually appreciated by the WWE Universe. She is doing very well but is she in the level of becoming Women’s Champion? I do not think so. I believe Bayley’s run is going well and she deserves to defend the title at WrestleMania and so I pick Bayley to return and to hold on to the title till WrestleMania where she faces off against Sasha Banks

Becky Lynch(C) vs Asuka (RAW Women’s Championship Match)

Source

This has been one of the best-told stories in WWE in a long time. Becky has never been able to defeat Asuka. Be it a one-on-one match or a tag match or even a triple threat match, Becky Lynch failed to clinch the victory over Asuka. It all started in the 2018 TLC Pay-Per-View when Becky Lynch, Charlotte and Asuka faced off against each other in a TLC match for the SmackDown Women’s Championship, Asuka defeated Lynch and Charlotte because of an interference from the ‘Baddest Woman on the Planet’ Ronda Rousey. From then Becky got another title shot at the Royal Rumble 2019 and she tapped out to Asuka. Also at TLC 2019 in a ladder match for the tag team titles between The Kabuki Warriors (Asuka and Kairi Sane) and half of the Four-Horsewomen (Becky Lynch and Charlotte Flair) Asuka captured the tag belts once again getting the upper hand against Becky Lynch. The story has been built as Becky was never ready for Asuka and so it is fair that the story ends with Becky proving that she is indeed ready for Asuka.

‘The Fiend’ Bray Wyatt (C) vs Daniel Bryan (A Strap match for the Universal Championship)

Source

These two have been feuding for a while now, if I am not wrong they had their first match at 2019 Survivor Series, but the story goes way back to Bray’s Wyatt Family days in 2013. Bryan and Wyatt have had good matches and now we have this great Character, ‘The Fiend’ and Daniel Bryan in a Strap match, they will be strapped together so they can have so many creative moments. It is without a doubt going to be a fun match and I just hope the red light is not there. It will be a tough fight and Bryan may look like he is going to win the match but at the end ‘The Fiend’ is going to win with the Mandible claw.

30 – Women Royal Rumble Match

Source

I think this is going to be the opener. Not a lot of superstars were announced and so we can expect a lot of surprise return and potentially shocking debuts as well. I am going to predict the winner (obviously), the final four superstars and a few surprises that could enter the match. Let me start with the surprise entrants. I think we are going to see the return of Nia Jax, Naomi, Shayna Baszler, Beth Phoenix, Lita and a few more. The final four are going to be Sasha Banks, Charlotte Flair, Shayna Baszler and the returning Ronda Rousey. It could be a tease for the Four Horsewomen of WWE vs Four Horse Women of UFC match. I think after a good brawl, Shayna will eliminate Sasha Banks and Charlotte will eliminate Shayna and then we will have the fight between Charlotte and Ronda for about 5 minutes or so and then Ronda will eliminate Charlotte to win the 2020 Women’s Royal Rumble. Ronda will go on to face Becky Lynch at WrestleMania to have that one-on-one match that we all want and the one that didn’t happen at Survivor Series 2018. Also on a side-note Charlotte will be on the corner very upset that she came up short on two Rumbles back to back and will build up for her to win the Rumble in 2021.

Rousey Wins the Rumble and WrestleMania

30 – Men’s Royal Rumble Match

Source

This match is something the WWE has been focusing on more than the women’s rumble and so without a doubt it is going to be the main event. Lesnar is going to enter No. 1 so I hope entering at No. 2 is Matt Riddle and we have Goldberg at No. 3. It will be mind-blowing but that is all just fantasy booking at this point. I do not think that will happen. But it will be an exciting match and Lesnar can get a lot of eliminations in the match. But gets eliminated half way through; he is not going to win the Rumble. I also hope Kofi Kingston eliminates Lesnar. With 26 names already mentioned for the match we can potentially have 4 surprises and so here are my 4 names for the surprise picks, I am going with Kane, Cain Velasquez, Keith Lee and the most shocking return will be Edge. The final four are going to be Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins, Drew McIntyre and Keith Lee. I believe Drew will be taken out with a spear from Reigns taking him out of the match for the time-being and the three remaining stars, Rollins, Reigns and Lee have a stare down having a throwback to 2019’s Survivor Series when these three were the final superstars in the 5 vs 5 vs 5 elimination match. The three will go toe to toe against each other and at one point Lee will be knocked down and Rollins tries to eliminate Reigns but fails and Roman eliminates Rollins. Keith Lee then eliminates Reigns. Keith believes he has one the match but in the background we all see McIntyre slowly getting up. Lee feels his presence and slowly turns around to face off against Drew McIntyre. The two have a stare-down. Keith Lee and McIntyre have a great fight and at certain spots it looks like either one will be eliminated but they both survive. The match comes to an end when Drew McIntyre nails Lee with the Claymore kick and throws him out for the win. Drew McIntyre will win the 2020 Men’s Royal Rumble and he will go on to WrestleMania to defeat the Beast to become WWE Champion for the first time in his career.

Drew McIntyre Wins

Well dang, this turned from a predictions article to booking both the Royal Rumble matches. Well I hope I predicted them all correctly. I cannot wait for the Royal Rumble; it is going to be great. Wish everyone a happy Royal Rumble weekend. Catch you guys on the flip side of the Rumble.
