Snow Tubes - Tubing in the snow!
I personally love snow tubes to go sledding. I always had one when we went to the biggest hill in our town. Not only is it convenient that you can deflate them to put in your little cars but they are super light weight. Even the smallest of children can drag it along to the sledding hill by themselves. One big benefit of these types of sleds is that there are endless designs and colors that you can choose from. Have a picky child? Great! Just go on Amazon and type in the color/size you want! These tubes also glide great over snow and ice making for a smooth ride.
Saucer Shaped Sleds - Round Snow Sleds
I think we had at least three of these snow saucers growing up because they were just that awesome! They are pretty light weight to haul up the hill and all the things you can do with them are endless. For one you can run and jump on the saucer making you go fast down the hill. You can also race your friends just get two saucers and have someone push at the same time (we used to love that).
Saucer sleds are very durable and most are high quality that last years. They have safety precautions such as the indented hand grips for children to hold on for their lives going down the hill. The middle of the sled is inverted so they can feel safer knowing their "behind" is intact and they wont fall out. The most popular colors are blue, red, and yellow which will satisfy any gender of children!
Tobaggans - Cruise down the snow hill in style
Tobaggan sleds are very popular for sledding. I had one and they were perfect for piling in two of my friends plus myself. It's a sled that can create laughter because sometimes depending on the weight it can shift to the side creating a tip over down the hill. This could also be a negative, so if you're worried about safety toboggans probably wouldn't be your first choice. These sled have hand grips to hold onto and have slightly raised sides so you feel like you're enclosed safely. Don't be surprised if your children pretend it's a surfboard and try to stand up on it when going down the hill (i'm so guilty ha ha).
Infant Snow Sleds - Sleds for your infants
Ah yes, it's winter time and you want to go sledding with your precious bundle of joy. The first thing on every parents mind is SAFETY! And the makers of these sleds were well aware of that when they were constructing these sleds. Most parents just prefer to pull baby around with the string to watch their older siblings or parent go down the real hill. Check out the varieties below as each one has a different feature about it.
Wood Sleds - Winter sleds made out of wood!
Wooden sleds have always been a traditional family favorite, usually because older generations used this kind. These sleds are very sturdy and well constructed that will last a long time. They are a good investment if you want a sled to last you more than one season of sledding. The only drawback is their weight, they are a tad heavier than plastic sleds but worth the fun!
Foam Sleds - Snow Sleds made out of foam!
Sleds made out of foam are a recent trend for children out on the hills. You would think they would snap in half but they are very durable with strong plastic coating on the bottom of the sled. This makes a seal for fast gliding over ice and snow a breeze. Try something new this year!
