5 Best Watches In The World

Updated on May 19, 2023

Watches have always been a passion of mine and I have several that I like to wear, unfortunately, I am not in a position to afford many of the world's most glamorous and expensive watches as much as I wish I were.

Many of these are still hand-crafted and are fully expected to outlive their owners, most of these fashionable timepieces you will see being worn by footballers and celebrities across the globe.

Some are hundreds of thousands of pounds and are ridiculously over the top whilst some could be purchased if you saved hard for them.

I will list Five of the most ridiculously expensive watches and then finish off with a few of the cheaper but still highly sought-after watches and let you make your mind up over which you prefer.

Hopefully, fingers crossed I win the national lottery or inherit a huge amount of cash and will then go on a mad shopping spree and buy every watch on this list but let's face it that is quite unlikely.

Franck Muller Conquistador

In 1983 Franck Muller began creating beautiful timepieces bearing his name and little more than 10 years after he had his own workshop his brand started rapidly expanding and is now enjoyed by celebrities around the world.

His timepieces are all handmade and beautifully crafted, his conquistador watches are among my favourites and a personal favourite of the footballer Rio Ferdinand.

With a polished steel case and 21 jewels and boasting a platinum rotor this watch is a classic timepiece which would look good when combined with a suit for maximum effect, what I would give to own this. Simple yet elegant.

Tag Heuer Monaco V4

Tag Heuer is usually among the cheaper luxury brands out there but not in this case, due to the fact that only 150 of this type of watch were made.

It is very different from their usual watches as it is so striking and bizarre. If you look at it closely it has lots of letter V all over its design and is one of the most shock-resistant expensive watches in the world today.

It was designed to celebrate Tag's 150th anniversary and is the first belt-driven watch produced, Because of that fact it is very expensive at around $80,000, but it is so striking that if I could afford it I would probably purchase it for the shock value.

Parmigiani Fleurier Tecnica Skeleton Chronograph

This watch is one of my favourites around at the moment just down to the sheer looks, I believe there was a limited number made and it is clear to see why, at nearly one million dollars it is one heck of an expensive watch and so it should be.

The case is made from platinum and it contains a full diamond bezel. It is simply beautiful. But possibly my favourite thing about this watch is the blue numbers and also the hints of blue in the inner workings, it makes the watch stand out just as much as the diamonds do.

Patek Philippe’s Platinum World Time

Only one watch made in the whole world. That is exclusivity for you, it was sold in 2002 for four million dollars.

At that time it was the most expensive wristwatch in the entire world.

If it isn't sitting in the Floyd Mayweather collection I will be very surprised.

Jacob & Co Crystal Tourbillion

This gorgeous watch by makers Jacob & Co is a favourite of a couple of footballers. The watch comes with an 18-carat white gold case and 17.5 carats of diamonds.

It has a transparent skeleton dial and a 2-carat baguette diamond buckle, there are 18 of these watches in the world today and will cost you around nine hundred thousand dollars.

Raymond Weil

Raymond Weil has long been my more affordable watch maker, yes sure they can do watches that cost thousands, but you can get some cracking timepieces that only cost a few hundred.

Raymond Weil is a member of the Swiss watch-making community and his watches are renowned worldwide.

I must admit that I will be saving up to buy one of the cheaper time-pieces as soon as possible.

Tag Heuer

Another of my favourite and more affordable everyday watches is Tag Heuer, they have been around for over a hundred years and are synonymous with sport, in fact, lots of sports stars and racing drivers wear and are sometimes sponsored by Tag

Tag Heuer are also the current sponsors of the extra time clock seen in the English Premier league.

From the sublime to the outrageous these watches must be seen and worn.
