A Broke Girl's Guide to Cruelty Free Cosmetics
Look for the Bunny.
When shopping for beauty products (or any product for that matter) look for the bunny. Most companies use an image a bunny with heart shaped ears, a leaping bunny, or bunny with the words "Not Tested on Animals" written underneath. However, not all companies that do not test their products on animals use an image of a bunny. So when in doubt, always look for the phrase, "Not Tested on Animals".
Beauty on a Budget
There are thousands of beauty products on the market throughout the world that are cruelty free, the problem is that they tend to be pricey. Many people believe that you have to spend money to get quality items, this is not true. In order to embrace beauty on a budget, you need to realize that you can shop almost anywhere to get good quality, low cost, cruelty free beauty products that work very well.
Most women turn their noses up at the thought of shopping at stores like Dollar General, Wal-mart, Meijer, Kmart, and Goodwill. Ladies, I am telling you from experience that you can get good quality items that are cruelty free at these and many more locations! The majority of cruelty free products are very expensive but people trust the name and some fall into the psychology that you get what you pay for. If you do not have the money to pay for these items, you do not need to feel ashamed. As a matter of fact you need to embrace this and realize that there are wonderful, low priced, cruelty free products out there and they will not break the bank.
Sure you can go to The Body Shop and pay $25.00 for eye shadow, but you can take that money and go to almost any supermarket and purchase eye shadow, lipstick, powder, foundation, bronzer, highlighters, concealers, shampoos, conditioners, etc.

Did you know that you can get brand new, cruelty free products at Goodwill? Don't turn your nose up, the products are new, they are not open, and they are not used. Corporations like Wal-mart will donate any products that have a crack in the case, part of a gift set that is missing, etc. and Goodwill sales the product anywhere from .99 to 3.00. Also, many people get cosmetic gifts that they do not want and they will donate them to Goodwill and other resale shops, and the products are brand new and have never been opened. There are choices out there, you just have to look.
