The Most Amazing Beach Cover-ups: Part I

Updated on February 11, 2014

Gorgeous Beach Cover-ups

After doing my hubs on the "Most Amazing Swimsuits of All Time", I wanted to do one on cover-ups as well. Cover-ups today are quite different from what they used to be. Cover-ups used to be for shy women who wanted to wear something to hide their bodies or bathing suits either for propriety or insecurity. Today however, cover-ups are a gorgeous beach/pool accessory that no girl can be without for the hot summer season!

Cover-ups offer so many "pro" that there is no reason not to own one. Cover-ups are light-weight, easy to wear and perfect for beach activities. Trying to put on your regular clothes after a swim is difficult and messy. But using a cover-up will help you dry off quickly. They are easy to pack to the beach or pool, do not get wrinkled and are a MUST if you plan on going to restaurants or shopping after your beach excursion. You don't want to walk into a nice restaurant in your bikini! Also, they are perfect for other instances of "fun in the sun" that doesn't require water. Such as on yachts, boats, picnics and etc.

Allow me to introduce Part I of the Most Exquisite, Unique and Beautiful Beach Cover-Ups of All Time!

#1 (pic. below) Vita India

This is a gorgeous and glamorous cover-up. Certainly not for the shy at heart. The deep fuschia color will look fabulous with golden and olive skintones and the sheen is beautiful. The V-neck is universally flattering and I love the floaty sleeves. The short length adds a hint of sexy so you'll be sure to leave lots to the imagination!

#2 Sonia Vera Cover-up

This intricately patterned cover-up is magical.  I love how the cover-up was made to be sexy and very form-fitting unlike traditional cover-ups. The gold detailing on the sleeves are magnificent and the middle-eastern inspired pattern is brilliant. I love how the bottom is banded, which will make legs look fabulous. To top it all off, the cover-up is very very sheer! Meaning, you'll still be able to show off your hot bod and beautiful bathing suit. I can only imagine all the cute sandals I can wear with this one!

#3 Nicole Olivier Cover-up

RAWR! I am a huge fan of animal print; when it's done properly that is. This "safari-looking" cover-up is a great tribute to these beautiful, wild animals. I love how dramatic this piece is. The long length just adds to its appeal and the cover-up looks so easy to throw on. What did it for me though, was the ring and halter ties. Its fabulous that the halter ties look like scarves being tied around the neck.

#4 Agua Clara Cover-up

This is one of the most fantastic cover-ups I've ever seen. I know how traditional a white cover-up may seem, but this one is quite different. White is perfect for all skintones, because it accentuates any golden colors. The eyelets on this cover-up is beautifully done, because it follows a pattern but has small and larger holes. The top has a very casual V-neck reveal with the 'cuts' hanging to the sides. It's perfect for exotic locales and for ladies who want to show off their suits!

#5 Acua di Lara Cover-up

Isn't this a gorgeous ocean-blue color? The teal-ish color is what attracted me to this cover-up but the fine detailing is why its on my list. How could you not love the great beading and detailing on the neckline? The round studs and smaller beads are beautiful on the deep-V neckline. There's nothing better than a very deep-V on a cover-up. The cinch at the waist is also fantastic to showcase curves.

#6 Sunsets

This one is a must for any young, fashionable girl who likes to party. I can picture this one with gorgeous gold gladiator sandals for a pool party or beach bon fire. It offers a lot of coverage so you can really go to town with the accessories and make-up. I love the deep, rich colors of the cover-up and the alluring mysteriousness it has.

#7 Agua Bendita

This one is flirty and yummy with great shape it almost looks like a summer dress! This one is so gorgeous and unique and perfect for beach/pool/yacht outings where you know you'll have to go "out on the town" afterwards. You could stroll into any fancy yacht party or restaurant with this cover-up and no one would have to know! The floaty layers, the unique print and the deep-V make this cover-up a must! As a bonus, these bold hues will make your tan shine!

#8 Beach Bunny

Calling all sexy ladies! Great ready to flaunt it all. This beautifully made cover-up is perfect for you. The paisley blue and fire red go magically together. The lined plunging neckline and the studded red stones will make you the center of attention. The sleeves are floaty like the waves and the hemline isn't a joke. This one is a MUST for any "serious fashionista."

9. Gottex

This one is number one on my list of the the most dramatic and unique cover-ups of all time. You need to be very confident to be able to wear this dramatic piece. Unlike most cover-ups, the bottoms are pants. The deep fabric is separated from left and right all the way up into a halter. The gold bands encircle the entire cover-up in 3 places with a dramatic gold stone clasping the middle. There is a sexy bare middle strip from head to navel! Yowza! For the bravest of the brave, this was made for you!

Stay Tuned for Part II

I found so many cover-ups that were gorgeous, drool-worthy and absolutely marvelous, that I had to save half for part II. Stay Tuned!

Symone: Because designers come out with new collections every season, I think it'll be very difficult to find that exact look. Here is something from Nicole Olivier that is similar in print & style:

Hi. This is a great post, I really like it. I have tried finding the Nicole Oliver Cover up in #3 online but can't find it anywhere. Any suggestions?

K Kiss: I like the embellished jewels on #5 as well! Thanks for commenting!

PurpleOne: #4 is a personal fave. (I own it now!) Cover-ups are no longer for covering up, if you know what I mean!

I love #4 as well! I actually had no idea that coverups these days have evolved to the point to look like the ones you've shown here. I'm going to be spending the next few months in Costa Rica so this is good to know. :)

PhillyFreeze: You are a decent fashion commentator for a man! Fantastic!

2patricias: Yes, what you say is logical but... I must say fashion is always impractical, gorgeous and silly; which is why I'm so devoted!

2besure: They are good for covering up! (Hence the name) But honestly I'd probably wear them just the same.

Thanks all for reading, I really appreciate the comments!

Beautiful beautiful classy cover ups. They can be a life saver when you are a several pounds overweight!

These are cute, but not very practical. We live near the beach and keep bags ready to go. This means our cover ups are usually scrunched in the bag - so something expensive would be silly.

      Fun hub though!

Ftnirish7: Thanks, I also love number 2. Anything exotic that catches the eye is fab!

Ladybird33: I'm also short (5'2")! How tall are you? Short women can still wear cover-ups! Well, in my opinion....but i'm no expert lol...

Cheeky Girl: I completely agree that beachwear is a lifesaver for evenings. I am also a huge, huge fan of beach bunny. The name sounds all cutesy but their stuff if gorgeous!

Thanks to all for the comments and visits! =)

Beachwear in the evening is important. I have often found myself not having something casual yet tasty to wear in the evening - and anything you have here is good! The Sunset and Beach Bunny are especially nice. The colours are so lovely! The Agua Clara cover up is awesome. Looks so nice yet it is so cool too! What a really great selection you have here! magic! Rating you up! : )

Why in the world would these ladies want to cover themselves up? Just kidding! You have such a good eye and innovative mind for coming up with such fascinating trends for the upcoming season. I'm amazed (and no, that's not lip service either). Thanks again for showcasing this!

Wordscribe: Pacific northwest doesn't sound as bad as Michigan! I'm sorry its so depressing there... grab some girlfriends are just LEAVE! With your gorgeous cover-up. I'm sure you look fabulous right now! Studies show that most people have warped images of themselves, so in actuality we should be nicer to ourselves.

I will certainly let you know if I get it. =)

I'm well, although a bit jealous of your Mexico trip. I live in the pacific northwest and it really sucks this time of year. It's mushy and depressing. I have never needed a vacation more, yenajeon. I would totally buy number 4, let me know if you do. Sadly, I think I need a cover-up now more than ever. Time to hit the gym again. Sigh.

Personally I know I wouldn't be able to either, since I'm so short! I wasn't patient enough for the weather, so I just went to Mexico instead! I LOVE number 4 as well, I'm thinking about buying it...

I have been well, how are you doing? =)

Seriously can't imagine wearing that last one to the beach. Wow, that's a fancy number. Can't wait until it's finally beach season here. I've had it with cold, rain and cloudy days. I'd wear number 4 myself, classic, clean, still sexy. Hope you're well.
