Angelite Gemstone Meaning

Angelite gemstone is formed from Celestite that has been compressed for many millions of years. This Stone is also known as Blue Anhydrite. It is seen in shades of colors like blue, lilac and violet. The most commonly seen color is the blue- gray. This gemstone has a hardness of 3.5 on the Mohs scale with an orthorhombic crystal structure which makes it a suitable stone for carving figurines and making jewelry beads. The name of this stone comes from the Greek phrase ‘an hydros’ the meaning of which is ‘without water’. Angelite is associated with the throat, third eye and crown Chakras. It is a good gemstone for those born under the zodiac sign of Libra and Aquarius. This stone was only discovered recently in the year 1987 in Peru.

This stone can be found in many places including Britain, Germany, Egypt, Mexico, Peru, Poland and Libya.

Healing and Metaphysical Properties of Angelite Gemstone

Angelite is a protection stone and acts as a psychic shield against curses, ill wishing, evil eye etc. It is a Stone of awareness which promotes understanding. Angelite is said to bring in qualities like compassion, pity and forgiveness. This gemstone is said to be helpful to dispel negative emotions like fear, anger, stress, anxiety etc and bring serenity, inner peace and a sense of calmness. It is an excellent stone to be used by those who have communication difficulties like problems in self expression. It is also believed to be helpful in telepathic communication and communication with angels. It is said to be helpful in astral travel. Healers use Angelite to unblock energy pathways. It is a good stone for meditation purpose. This stone can be helpful for those suffering from sleeplessness because of conditions like insomnia. One may keep angelite tumbled stones at the four corners of the bed and ask the angels to protect you as you sleep. Angelite Stone is said to balance the fluid functions of the body and thereby release excess body fluid. Angelite stone is useful in treating thyroid, headache, throat inflammations, weight management and to alleviate the pain of stomach ulcers and sunburn. Its elixir is used for afflictions like sore throat, tonsillitis, laryngitis and also to alleviate symptoms of heart disease. According to Feng Shui this stone can be kept in the Northeast area for wisdom and knowledge and in the Center area for balance and harmony.

It is a soft mineral which will convert into Gypsum if immersed in water so Angelite Jewelry should not be worn while bathing or swimming. It is a soft stone with a low hardness and therefore not suited as an everyday wear stone. It should be handled with great care. It should be protected from harsh blows and chemicals. Also do not use mechanical cleansers for cleaning it. The best way for cleaning the stone would be by wiping it with a slightly damp soft cloth or a very soft jewelry cloth. Angelite jewelry should be individually boxed or pouched in cloth or velvet for storing when not in use as it can be scratched easily.
