Which gemstone is Dracula's favorite? Well, it has to be the Bloodstone. Jokes apart, this is a gemstone belonging to the Quartz family. This gemstone is also referred to as Heliotrope. Bloodstone is green colored gem with distinctive red spots resembling that of blood spots, giving this stone its name. Technically, it is Green Jasper with red spots. The green color of the gemstone is because of the chlorite content and the red spots are formed because of the inclusions of iron oxides in the stone. The spots can vary from red to brown depending on the iron content.

Bloodstone is the traditional Birthstone for those born in the month of March along with Aquamarine. This Stone is associated with the Zodiac Signs Aries and Pisces. This stone is associated with the Heart Chakra.The powder of this gem is used in India for medicinal purpose. This stone is widely used in Christian art where scenes of crucifixion of Jesus Christ and martyrs were carved giving the stone an image of ‘Martyr’s Stone’.
