Cranberry Anti-Aging Face Mask Recipe

Updated on October 23, 2012

This cranberry anti-aging mask is easy to make, natural and a great way to spoil yourself and skin. Even spas have cranberry anti-aging masks on their treatment menus, recognizing the power of this fruit.

Cranberries have a well known reputation and popularity in helping to remedy or prevent certain health problems and issues related to the urinary tract, cardiovascular system and liver. Most people obtain the benefits of cranberries through eating them, taking vitamins or pills or drinking its juice. As with many of the super fruits out there; what is good for you on the inside can also be good for you externally as well.

Benefits of Cranberries For Your Skin

Cranberries are a great anti-bacterial component to use in facial treatments such as cleansers, toners, masks and even scrubs. A great natural ingredient to fight premature aging it is also beneficial for those that are prone to oily skin, have acne or even problems of psoriasis or eczema.

Cranberry juice detoxes the skin as well as acts as an anti-inflammatory for those with redness, itchiness or irritated skin.

It fights against free radicals that cause wrinkles and premature aging.

Because our skin easily absorbs cranberry it assists in moisture retention keeping skin supple and improving its elasticity.

Protects skin against harsh environmental conditions.

Acts as a cellular renewal again fighting premature aging.

Contains vitamins A, C and B-5.

  • 1 cup Fresh Cranberries
  • 1 cup Seedless Red Grapes
  • 2 tsp Grapefruit Juice
  • 1 envelope Unflavored Gelatin

Making the Cranberry Anti-aging Mask

  1. Rinse the cranberries and grapes, cut them in half. (Cutting them is actually a personal option, I prefer it to get the extra punch from their juices)
  2. Put all of the ingredients into a mixing bowl and mix it well until it becomes thicker like a paste.
  3. Cover the mixture and refrigerate for 45 minutes

How to Apply the Cranberry Anti-aging Mask

When you are ready to apply the mask remove it from the refrigerator 10 minutes prior to use.

Wash and dry your face than spread the mask on, avoiding the eye area. You can apply it with your hands, a cosmetic pad or clean, unused paint brush.

Be aware that it will probably still be cold from the time it spent in the refrigerator, if applying it onto a friend be sure to let them know that it will be cool upon contact.

Let the mask sit for about 15 minutes. It should feel as though it is tightening against your skin about halfway through.

Rinse off with warm water using circular hand motions. You can use cotton pads dipped in warm water to remove the mask as well.

Grapes, Grapefruit Juice, Gelatin Benefits

The other all natural ingredients in this anti-aging cranberry mask recipe also contribute to healthier skin.

Red Grapes - The main component of red grapes is that of resveratrol, a powerful antioxidant attributed to fighting free radicals, premature aging, protection against UV rays and skin cancer. It is also the reason red wine is considered as being good for ones health in moderation.

Grapefruit Juice - Grapefruit juice contains acids that remove dead skin cells, rejuvenating the complexion. It contains vitamin C, acts as an anti-bacterial and assists in the production of collagen providing healthier, younger looking skin.

Gelatin - Gelatin acts as a bonding agent to bring all of the ingredients together. It is also a peel within itself removing dead skin cells and assisting in the unclogging and purification of pores. It accomplishes this by drying and forming to ones skin.
