Curls Unleashed Experience

I spotted a new line by Organic Root Stimulator as I was casually perusing the hair product aisle in Duane Reades. The packaging was bright, cheery, contemporary and clean to the eye while being adorned by this logo of a culturally enlightened woman whose hair reflects the texture of many.

I was excited to try out this new product. I couldn't help it -- it's the fault of the "product junkie fairy" whispering "try it, you may like it" in my ear! Of course, it made no sense in trying to resist. Shoot! It may be the "Holy Grail" product that will end my consuming product quest!

So, I grabbed the 16 ounce jar of Curls Unleased Curl Defining Creme for $12.99 and quickly found the register and carried my purchase happily home to explore a new product relationship!

Application of Curls Unleashed

I always apply my Styler on wet or damp hair. I co-washed with Tresemme Naturals Conditioner and left some in as my leave-in. I then section my hair into four parts and applied Curls Unleashed Defining Creme to each section. I used about a quarter-size amount on each section. I "smooth" product on. The defining creme was rich, creamy and smelled like mango or watermelon. The fragrance was so nice that even my husband wanted to smell the product in the jar!

I covered my hair with a clear plastic cap and a scarf and removed them both the following morning. Hair was extremely moisturized to the point that it was still "wet." I then, as the jar directed, applied a dollop on my hand and rubbed them together and then proceeded to run through my hair to the roots.

The amazing thing about this product is that it dries quickly. In forty-five minutes hair was completely dry, shiny, and bouncy. My 3b to 4 textured strands had curls upon curls with a flexible hold.

I REALLY like this product!

My Assessment of Curls Unleashed

Overall, I am pleased with this product.

  • Product is creamy and thick
  • Easily Applied from Jar
  • Price was good -- $12.99 for a 16 ounce jar from Duane Reade
  • Packaging was pleasing to the eye, upbeat, and contemporary
  • Geared to my hair type: 3c to 4
  • Product is color-coded for textures (cinnamon-color label is for Kinky, blue for wavy hair types)
  • Flexible Hold
  • Shiny and bouncy hair
  • Great for Coils, Twists, and Updos

Cons

  • Too Much Will Cause Hair to Be Limp
  • Best Applied for Wash N' Go's on Damp or Wet Hair

Will, I Repurchase?

Yes! It has moved up to first-place on my list of products. Love the smell, the consistency of the product and the price point! It's a keeper!
