Get your face ready for makeup with the new Jane Iredale BeautyPrep line

Updated on April 1, 2016

The new BeautyPrep line

You may have a favorite skin care routine, but it may not be suitable as the first step before applying your makeup. Some cleansers don't rinse off well, leaving a residue. You can't lay down color over it. Others strip your complexion so thoroughly, foundations and blushes sink into the flakes and wrinkles left behind.

Moisturizers can be tricky, too: if they contain heavy amounts of silicone, foundation and color pills right off . . . if you can even apply it. Waxy cosmetics, such as eyebrow pencil, don't lay down well over silicone. If you're a woman who's missing her brows through over-plucking or illness, you know how devastating it is not to be able to draw on a proper brow. Other moisturizers are so oily or creamy, the color dissolves, melts away or sinks in.

That's why the BeautyPrep line has many important points of difference. All the items are perfectly sized for 3-1-1 carry-on travel bags/TSA requirements.

Face Cleanser: a cucumber scented liquid, it's unlike almost any other cleanser on the market. Made with 100% natural ingredients, it takes off all types of makeup, even mascara and lip stains. You pour it onto a cotton pad. You may have to use more for stubborn color cosmetics, but don't rub and tear your skin! Also, make sure your cap is screwed on tightly and the flip top is closed after each use: I experienced evaporation.

Face Toner: has an interesting pump top that looks like a television satellite dish. It will help protect against leakage and evaporation (wish the cleanser had it!). It doesn't have a discernible scent. It's 100% natural and alcohol free. Instead, it incorporates organic liposomes of lemongrass, apple, pear, carrot and coconut water. It's soothing!

Face Moisturizer: it comes in a tub, incorporating 4 organic rose stem cell extracts to moisturize, brighten and protect skin from trans-epidermal water loss and airborne pollutants. Though it's not oily or waxy, it has a thicker consistency, so it would be advisable to really blend it into your skin before applying makeup.

Jane Iredale

There are lots of mineral makeup companies out there and even more "natural" makeup ones. But they are not all created alike! Jane Iredale is considered the creme de la creme of natural, mineral cosmetics and skincare. I was happy to be hosted to experience it!

If you go to boutiques in the most exclusive spas and resorts in the United States (and 40 other countries), you'll very often encounter Jane Iredale products. You'll also see them in doctor's offices where celebrities and "beautiful people" go to get a little "work done".

So, what makes this line so coveted and trust-worthy? Each product is created to be multi-functional. Even the cosmetics have skin benefits, including natural sunscreen. They're made without talc, FD&C dyes, synthetic preservatives, parabens, or synthetic fragrance.
