Pimple is a swelling on the skin, mostly due to the accumulation of dead skin in pores of your skin. A swelling occurs on the skin when the skin pores are blocked. Pimples can be painful or not painful. This blockage of the pores occurs due to certain glands named sebaceous glands. This cannot be considered as the only reason for occurring of pimples. When the pores of the skin are filled with dirt, this unhygienic condition may lead to the blockage skin pores and later results in pimples. When a person gets continuous pimples, it is called acne. There a number of home remedies by which you can easily get rid of scary pimples that takes off your sleep!
What causes pimples?
When a male or female steps into the age of puberty, along with all the physical changes seen, there will a lot of unseen hormonal changes and one of these changes results in pimple outbreaks. Sebaceous glands, which are commonly known as the oil glands becomes active during this period. These are common in both male and female, though these are male hormones triggered by adrenal glands in both male and female. Pimples can occur genetically in certain people and it can also be the result of the increased androgen levels (a type of hormone that will be present in person when he/ she reach adolescence).
The victim is not only your face
There is a common misunderstanding that one can get pimples only on face. It is not only your face that can get pimples but you might have it on your neck, back, chest and even on your shoulders. The dead cells of your skin need to be carried out through the tiny pores in your skin. This function is done by an oily substance called sebum. When this procedure is not properly carried out the oily substance, the hair follicle and the dead skin gets accumulated and this blockage results in pimple outbreaks.
Different types of pimples
The first thing to keep in mind is that all the pimples are not the same. There various classification of pimples and they are cysts, nodules, papules, pustules, blackheads and comedones. These pimples are different from each other by their own characteristic features. Among these, cysts and nodules are painful and can leave your skin scarred. Pustules are inflammations filled with pus and papules are inflammations that are tender to touch and pink in color. Comedones are the common black heads and white heads.
Home remedies for the treatment of pimples
The best medicine you can have for the pimples are those from your home itself. Homely care can be very soothing and safe. Before going to a dermatologist you can try to help yourself with some easy home remedies.
Turmeric and Guava leaves pack
Guava is a fruit known for its great content of nutrients, whereas its leaves has the power to reduce pimples and acne in very less time. Turmeric is known for its ability to fight bacteria. Turmeric is very effective against the infection due to pimples. Mix two spoons of turmeric paste with paste of 10 Guava leaves and apply this pack for 20 minutes. After washing away the pack apply some rose water on your face and leave it on your face. This can be done three times a week and will reduce within one month.
Sandal oil and Saffron oil (kumkumadi tail)
These two are known to be the royal oils. A person who has pimples is always advised to stay away from oils but these oils are safe to be used and it cannot bring in any adverse effects. Get sandal oil and saffron oil and mix it in equal proportion. This oil can be applied as bath oil in the areas where you have pimples.
Don’t throw away the skin of Orange and Pomegranate
Get equal quantity of the skin of pomegranate and orange. Dry this in hot sun till it becomes crisp and breakable. Grind both the ingredients together into fine powder. You can store this for multiple uses. A face pack can be made by mixing the powder with a spoon of honey and a spoon of lemon juice. Apply this pack for 15 minutes and remove the pack with a cotton cloth. This can be done once or twice a week .This pack can be used wherever you have pimple infection.
Tomato and oats face pack
Tomato is a very cleanser and scrub. Get the puree of a tomato along with its seeds. After that take one big spoon of oats make into a smooth paste (you can add skimmed milk or rose water for proper consistency) make it in the consistency of thick dough and then mix it with the tomato paste. Apply this on your face for 10 minutes. After that wet your hands and massage your face gently for 3 minutes and wash off the pack. This will remove the dead cells of your skin and reduces pimples.
Cucumber and Honey cooling pack
Ice fermentation on painful pimples is not advisable always because ice fermentation might close the skin pores though it is really soothing. Cucumber provides cooling care for the painful outbreaks. Make a fine paste of cucumber (½ cucumber is enough) with a spoon of honey and apply on your face whenever pain troubles. This pack soothes and comforts the severe pain of pimples.
To get rid of scars
It is very common that people get scars that the pimples leave behind. There are herbal remedies that can easily wipe away the scars due to pimples. One thing to be kept in mind is that deeper the scar, longer the time will it take. Applying turmeric with honey can reduce scars on the whole body. Saffron oil can wipe away pimple scars fast. Egg white when applies regularly makes the scars less visible. Ripe papaya if mashed and applied can erase the pimple marks. Scars are always disturbing but timely care can bring great changes!
Some things to be avoided
- Take care not to use heavy make- up, if your skin is prone to pimples. if you use heavy make clean your face within 6 hours.
- Never clean your face with soaps or face washes with harsh chemical ingredients (take care while you purchase them).
- Never chose junk food more than twice a week (enjoy once or twice, after all you are human!).
- Don’t pop-up the pimple although it is disturbing you. It might leave huge scars.
- Never apply toothpaste on pimples. It may not work all time.
- Never let sweat accumulate. Have a shower as soon as you are at home after an exercise session, heavy work or any that can make you sweat.
Tips to keep in mind
- Let your skin breath properly and keep it hydrated.
- Apply a mud pack weekly once to avoid accumulation of oil.
- Eat right and stay fit.
- Go for powder or mineral make-up and say no, to oily and liquid make-up.
- Regular facial treatments can improve the condition.
- And most important of all, if you feel things are getting serious, go to a doctor.
