Gorgeous, healthy hair can be yours: A review of The Mane Choice hair care
With all of the chemicals we expose our hair to, it's no wonder so many women are forced to wear fake hair, weaves, wigs and coverups. Now there's a new line that will nurse our hair back to health, both inside and out! I was very happy to be hosted to experience The Mane Chance.
Points of difference: the line was founded by Courtney Adeleye, a glamorous young woman of color who is a Bachelor's Degree Registered Nurse. Her husband, a physician, is her business partner. With their shared medical and health knowledge, they have a distinct advantage above other hair care lines. Adeleye has also become an internet sensation, with her videos about hair.
Adeleye and her husband both know that hair comes from living tissue; in order to ensure its optimal health and beauty, care has to be both from inside and out. To that end, they have created a number of supplements, for children and adults.
The whole line is made for multi-cultural hair.
The products: the whole line is made with luscious, natural botanical ingredients, as much as any lines found in a health food store. The Mane Choice isn't tested on animals.
Detangling Hydration Shampoo is considered a "growth and retention solution". This pearlized, creamy, gentle formula has a sweet, ripe fruit fragrance. There is no mineral oil or sulfates in it, rather, it contains ingredients like coconut, chamomile, clary leaf, lavender, birch, horsetail, celery seed, grapefruit, nettle, thyme, yarrow, Vitamin E, avocado oil. These are ingredients that have been used in folk medicine for hair and scalp for centuries. This shampoo is able to cover two needs, previously seemingly impossible: thorough cleansing while still leaving strands manageable.
3-in-1 Revitalize & Refresh Conditioner is a classic and cutting edge product all rolled together. It can be used as a detangler, leave-in conditioner and also, as a "co-wash". For those of you who haven't heard of this trend, it's the process of using a light conditioner as your only hair cleanser. It's reputedly the perfect routine for color-treated, dry, porous and damaged hair. I also find that this product is great for an overnight treatment -- also so popular now -- as it's not greasy, doesn't stain the bed linens or look weird to any bed partner. It has nourishing ingredients like rapeseed oil, avocado oil, tea tree oil, biotin, horsetail, coltsfoot, aloe vera, slippery elm and marshmallow. The conditioner has a light, lotion consistency with a nutty/wildflower scent.
Green Tea & Carrot Deep Strengthening & Restorative Mask isn't greasy, heavy or waxy. This formula contains honey, green tea, broccoli seed, carrot, meadowfoam seed oil, Vitamins C and D, silk amino acids. It has a sweet, lemon dessert fragrance. They recommend that you use it with a cap for 15 - 60 minutes every week or two. Your hair will be silky, yet still bouncy.
ManetabolismKids are all natural, fruit gummy supplements with Vitamins A, C, D, E, B-6, B-12, folic acid, biotin, pantothenic acid, iodine. Even though I am an adult and was taking a kids' supplement, I found them both tasty and effective. I had been experiencing extreme stress and trauma in my life; by all measures, my hair should have been breaking and falling out. Instead, my hair's looking pretty swell, even in Baltimore's nasty, humid weather! It might be true what they say about "a good hair day" improving your whole day.
