Mix to form a slimy mash and apply on a clean damp face. Rice acts as a gentle exfoliator and honey is a well-known moisturizer. If you have sensitive skin you need not massage this on your face, simply leave it on for 10-15 minutes and wash with lukewarm water.

You instantly see a much brighter face with a soft glow looking back at you; this facial mask can be used once or twice in a week.


2. Oats and Curd/Yogurt facial mask

Oats are not only a smashing breakfast option but also a great way to pamper your skin. Take 2 tablespoon of oat and crush to make a fine powder. Add 1 tablespoon of curd and 2 small papaya cubes. Mix till you get a slimy-thick consistency. Apply on a damp face as it helps the mask to slip on better. Gently massage for a few minutes and leave it on for 7 to 10 min and wash off with normal water.

This is a facial mask that South East Asians swear by; these ingredients are easily available at any Asian store near your place.

Take a tablespoon of chickpea flour and a pinch of turmeric; add 2 table spoons raw milk and 2 teaspoons of rose water to create a smooth paste. Do not go overboard with turmeric. A pinch of turmeric is enough as too much of it has a tendency to leave a yellowish color on the face. However, having said that turmeric gives a wonderful radiant glow to the face. Apply on a clean face and leave it on to dry for 15 minutes. Wash clean with water.

If you have dry skin, chickpea flour could dry you face further, if that is the case, then substitute raw milk with a tablespoon of fresh cream. This facial is an all-purpose facial mask, which brightens the face, gets rid of tan and gets back the much desired radiance and glow. Use once or twice a week for best results.


5. Banana and Curd/Yogurt facial mask

This is a result-yielding fruity facial mask. First eat a banana and save an inch of the end for the facial. Yes!!! Beauty inside and out! Mash the banana and add a teaspoon of yogurt and mix well. Apply to a clean face and gently massage for a few minutes and wait till it is dry. Wash off with water.

6. Lemon and Honey facial mask

Take 2 teaspoons of honey, 2 tablespoon of fresh cream, and a teaspoon of lemon juice. Mix well. Apply the mix on a clean face and leave in on for 15 min. Wash off with lukewarm water. As honey masks tend to get too sticky, it’s best you wash clean with lukewarm water as they come off easily. Please do not us hot water, as it is not good for your skin. Use this mask once a week.


7. Aloe Vera and Multani Mitti (Fuller’s Earth) facial mask

Aloe Vera which is extracted directly from the Aloe Vera plant has changed the way people look at this humble plant. It’s the inside of the Aloe Vera leaf, a sticky gel like substance which helps improve skin texture. The sticky gel is a natural moisturizer which is great for people with dry skin.

Take an Aloe Vera leaf and cut it with a knife, or just snap it down the middle, it breaks easily enough. We do not need the outer skin, rather we need to scrape the sticky gel like substance in between the leaf; you can scrape off the gel with a spoon. Collect 1 tablespoon of this sticky gel and place it in a bowl. Add to it 1 tablespoon of multani mitti (fuller’s earth), a tablespoon of raw milk and 1 teaspoon of rosewater. Mix the ingredients to form a paste.

Apply the mix to a clean face, leave it on for 15 min and wash it off. There are many who swear by this facial mask as their holy grail as far as facial masks go. This facial mask rejuvenates skin and gives it radiance and lustre.


8. Orange Peel Face mask

This facial mask is a great way to rejuvenate and brighten skin. Using this face mask regularly gives skin a shiny radiance and glow. Take the peel of 1 large sized orange. Dry the orange peels well in the sun for 3 days. When the orange peel is fully dry, grind the peel into a powder. Add 1 teaspoon of sandalwood powder to 2 tablespoons of orange peel powder. To this add rose water to form a paste. Apply this paste on your face and keep it on for 15 minutes. Wash clean with water.

For this facial recipe you will need ½ avocado, ¼ cup of uncooked oatmeal, 1 tablespoon of apple cider vinegar, 1 teaspoon lemon juice and 2 tablespoon honey. Mash all the ingredients in a bowl and mix well. Apply on the face; be careful you do not get any of the paste in your eyes. Leave on the facial mask for 15 minutes and rinse with water.

Avocado has vitamin E, antioxidants and healthy fats that nourish the skin and make it radiant. Lemon juice has citric acid that helps brighten skin.
