Harry Potter Scar - The difference between schoolboy and wizard

Creating the perfect Harry Potter scar makes the difference between dressing as an overgrown schoolboy or being the legendary boy wizard.

The Basic Harry Potter outfit is not hard to create or buy, its the attention to details that will make your Harry Potter costume stand out from the crowd and be immediately identifiable. These simple details come down to a solid and realistic scar, proper glasses and a great wizard wand.

The Harry Potter glasses and wands wont be overlooked by most who dress up as Harry Potter for parties, events and Halloween, but the scar may be mistakenly seen as less important.

Creating or purchasing a Harry Potter Scar is very easy and a very affordable requirement for the perfect Harry Potter outfit.

Harry Potter Scar Options

Option 1 : Create a Harry Potter Scar (Difficulty - Extreme)

Depending on your bodies healing abilities, this method may actually have to be done months in advance. Creating a realistic scar to match the legendary scar on Harry Potters head will require blunt force trauma, a friend , a quick ride to the hospital and stitches done by someone with a shaky hand. Parents will probably opt out of this method for their children, but a very committed adult knows that sometimes you have to bleed for your art.

Golf clubs, hammers and rock climbing accidents are the most likely to create the right shape for the scar.

This method IS NOT recommended as the cost of medical care far exceeds the rest of the options below.

Option 2: Buy a Harry Potter Scar Kit (Difficulty - Easy )

For under $20, the perfect Harry Potter Scar can be applied to your forehead without permanent injury. This method also allows for the correct lightning bolt shape. A variety of kits exist, each has a small latex applique for the scar, a skin safe and easily removable latex adhesive and some basic makeup for blending the scar naturally to fit your skin tone.

Movie FX Stage Quality Harry Potter Scars

Collodian Scar Liquid will create a very customizable and very real looking scar. This scar liquid is used in stage theater make up and movie sets. It can be very simply applied to any area, which will then actual tense up to form a realistic scar, its clear nature makes for a more realistic and natural scar to fit your skin tone.

It is important to not get this in or to near the eyes, so it is best applied by someone good with makeup and not for people with small foreheads.

This is for adult Harry Potter costumes only.

Good old Harry Potter. Yes I believe your third option is the one that the kids and not so young kids will go for! A very realistic way to create a Harry Potter Scar for Halloween and cheap enough too.

Nice idea for a hub. The last option looks really good and professional. Who would cut their head open months in advance for a party?
