Homemade Sunscreen Lotion Bars
Homemade Sunscreen bars
Easy and fun to make at home sunscreen bars. Simple recipe to follow and only takes about 15 minutes to make and about 15 minutes for the bars to set. I love knowing what I'm putting on my kids during the summer.
Not only does it protect you from the sun, but also conditions your skin at the same time. Its not as fancy as the waterproof sunscreen you can buy so you will have to reapply after working in the yard or playing in the water but its much healthy for you.
Ingredients
- 1 cup Coconut Oil
- 1/4 cup Mango Butter
- 3/4 cup Shea Butter
- 1 cup Beeswax
- 2 tablespoons Zinc Oxide
Melting the Oils
- In a double boiler melt your oils, butters and beeswax
- Once melted add 1 to 2 tablespoons Zinc Oxide. Stir well and pour into your molds
During the melting process, I added fresh lavender and mint leaves to the oils to infuse the oils with a light scent. Once the oils were melted I added the Zinc Oxide and mixed it well. When ready to pour the mixture into the molds, I used a strainer to remove the lavender and mint from the bars.
