I love to make things—all sorts of things. On my pages, you will find how to make articles and more. It's all fun and mostly easy.

Your Herbal Facial Cleansing Lotion - DIY

Herbal Cleansing Lotion For Your Face Tutorial

Here is a Herbal Cleansing Lotion DIY tutorial. I know you are going to love this simple recipe for homemade cleansing lotion you can make yourself. You probably won't even have to go to the store to buy any of the ingredients...most people already have them (or most of them) already!

This is an inexpensive way to own a luxurious cleansing lotion for your face without having to spend a fortune. It's also very easy to make yourself. You won't need anything fancy to put in it and you certainly don't need any expensive equipment to make it. You will need some natural ingredients, a bit of patience, and the determination to complete the process of making them...that's it.

Here are the supplies and ingredients you will need to make your own facial cleansing lotion:

  • ¼ cup dried elderberry flowers (this is the only thing I had to purchase at the store. You can also replace with Calendula or Lavender)
  • ½ cup boiling water
  • ¼ cup buttermilk
  • 1 tbsp honey

You will also need a:

  • Bowl
  • Strainer or cheesecloth
  • Whisk or fork
  • Bottle with a cap or container with a lid

How To Make Your Cleansing Lotion

OKay, now you know what you need to make the lotion and here are the how to directions written in step by step form to make it easy for you. Read through the directions and look at the pictures before you begin.

Directions:

  1. Boil some water
  2. Like making tea, just pour the hot water over the elder flowers. Steep until the mixture cools off.
  3. Pour the liquid through a strainer into a bowl or cup.
  4. Add the buttermilk
  5. Add the honey
  6. Mix well

If you have completed these simple steps you have just made your own herbal cleansing lotion for your face. You can now massage the lotion onto your face and neck. You can spread it with your hands or apply it with a cotton ball.

Rub and massage the lotion into your skin and complete the process by rinsing your face and neck area with warm water.

Pat your face and neck dry, gently, with a towel. Always remember to be gentle when you are applying anything to your facial area or when you are toweling your face dry.

You can store the herbal face cleansing lotion in your refrigerator for up to 10 days...no longer than that. It's easy enough to make, so don't push the expiration date.

Use the freshest ingredients you can find, make just enough to last you ten days (you will figure the perfect amount with a little bit of experience!). You always want your cleanser to be fresh and in the best condition. Buttermilk can spoil, so be sure to use a fresh batch before you make your DIY cleansing lotion.

Your face will feel clean and smooth after using this cleansing lotion mixture. Your beauty routine should now include washing your face twice a day (three times is okay too) using your fresh, homemade herbal cleansing lotion. Follow the washing with a splash of your favorite face and skin toner, and follow that step by applying some moisturizer. Follow this routine daily to clean any impurities from your face and to keep your face and pores clean. This will hopefully prevent premature aging and wrinkles.

Remember the basic steps of facial care : Cleanse, Tone, And Moisturize!

Elder Flower Properties

Why use Elder Flowers in a facial lotion? Elder flowers are known to be rich in antioxidants and we all know that antioxidants fight free radicals that can damage our skin. The Elder Flowers are also high in bioflavanoids and those may stop wrinkles from forming. Bioflavinoids also have astringent properties. Those can help to tighten the skin while reducing the size of your pores. They also help the skin to feel smooth.

So let's see...these bioflavinoids reduce the size of my pores, they keep my skin smooth, they prevent wrinkles, and they also can protect my skin from aging. I am all for this healthy, herbal DIY face cleansing lotion. The Elder Flower also has anti-inflammatory properties, and helps to prevent breakouts. Oh, and it is also good to use no matter what your skin type is...oily, dry, combination, or normal skin types will benefit from this herbal facial lotion. And you made it yourself with this DIY recipe for pennies. I think this is a great money saving skin care lotion for all of us.
