Updated on July 30, 2012

Its Flag Day on June 14th in The United States. How about trying some American Flag Nails?

This is a moderately easy nail art, requires a little bit of technique. Its great to wear on Flag Day, 4th of July or any patriotic occasion. So, we are going to use the 3 colors in the US flag and the patterns in it - the starts and the stripes. So, lets see how to get American Flag Nails.

Things you will need

1. Base Coat

2. White Nail Polish

3. Blue Nail Polish

4. Red Nail Polish

5. Dotting tool (or toothpick)

6. Striper brush

Steps to Create American Flag Nails :

1. Apply Base Coat to strengthen and protect your nails.

2. Apply blue colored nail polish on the nail you want to create the stars. Allow it to dry. Now take the toothpick or and load white color nail polish and create stars. Just make a dot in the middle and drag the dot in five directions to get a star.

3. Now for the stripes. Apply white nail polish on the part of nail that you want to create stripe pattern. Allow it to dry. Now draw red stripes using a striper brush. Draw the stripes in shorter strokes. It takes certain practice to achieve perfect stripes.

Or else, there is another method to create perfect stripes :

Allow the white nail polish to completely dry. Now take a scotch tape and cut into thin stripes. Stick these thin stripes of tape equidistantly on your nails. Now, paint red nail polish all over the nail. Allow it to dry. Now remove the pieces of tape.

And Voila, you have the perfect stripes now.

4. Use these patterns in combination with each other to create your Flag Nails ! Don't forget to finish off with the top coat to preserve the nail art.
