Jeans for Tall Women- Your Go-To List of Must Have Jeans!
Being 5'11", I know how incredibly difficult it is to find jeans for tall women. Even the jeans you find in stores marked with the big "L" for long don't cut the mustard. I will find a pair of jeans I absolutely love, that are flattering and fit me in all the right places... but alas, they are not long enough! The standard 32" just isn't going to cut it for many tall women! Occasionally, I've been sorely tempted to buy them and try to pull them off as cropped pants or capris. I will admit to doing that with my children's clothing as they get taller, by the way...
Some progress has been made by manufacturers who seem to have finally become aware of the tall woman's existence! I've definitely seen more pants and jeans being catered to our population. That said, there's still quite a gap. Unfortunately, a lot of the long jeans will necessitate you go online. You can always find the style and size you want in the store, then purchase them in the "tall" version online.
To save you hours of frustration in fitting rooms, I'm going to share with you my list of "go to" jeans that are stylish and yes, long enough!
Gap Jeans 1969 Perfect Boot Cut- $59.95
Old Navy's Women's The Sweetheart Boot-Cut Jeans- $19
Least Expensive Options
Okay, if it's been a while since you fell into The Gap, you might want to fall onto their website. Bless them... they're catering to the tall women's population online (and only online). I'd pretty much given up on stores of this sort, but my tall friend recommended I check it out again. Sure enough, they're offering inseams above the standard "long" of 32".
Gap Jeans 1969 Perfect Boot Cut
I'm telling you, these jeans are fabulous. The tall size is a 37" inseam. The boot cut is a very flattering look, too. I feel very slim and comfortable in these jeans. My only word of warning is they will stretch a little, so if you're stuck between two sizes, go for the smaller size.
Old Navy's Women's The Sweetheart Boot-Cut Jeans
If you go to Old Navy's online store, you will notice they're now offering a tall section. Hallelujah! Apparently Gap's sister company is also listening. Anyway, I have the "old" long version of this pair of jeans and have gotten quite a lot of wear out of them... But, since I got them before the tall section came to life, they are too short. I recommend getting these in a smaller size than you normally wear... they run big. The long and the tall are different: the long has a 34" inseam and the tall has a 36" inseam. The jeans are very inexpensive, only $19! They also come in a number of different washes. They have a number of other styles in their tall section, too. So, check them out!
Banana Republic's Indigo Denim Trouser Jeans- $89.50
Buying these was a bit of a risk for me because I decided to just go for it online. I was pleased when I actually got the trouser jeans- they fit! I've purchased trouser jeans before and know they tend to run a little tight in the thighs. They fit more like classic pants that are form-fitting. So, bear that in mind with these jeans and get a size larger. That said, they are very flattering! I love how I can wear them out for fancier occasions, too. They have a very generous 37" inseam, so depending upon how tall you are, you might be able to pull them off with heals!
Ann Taylor's Tall Modern Denim Boot Cut Jeans- $88
Ann Taylor's Tall, Curvy Slim Jeans- $88
Both of the above jeans have a 36" inseam. Both of these jeans are online exclusives, so trying them on in the store isn't going to happen. I am a huge Ann Taylor and Ann Taylor Loft fan, though. The stores offer classic, timeless styles with just enough of a modern, hip flair. These are next on my list, so I will add an update at a later time.
PAIGE Women's Hidden Hills Bootcut Jean
7 For All Mankind Women's Extra Long Boot Cut Jean
Higher End, Designer Jeans
PAIGE Women's Hidden Hills Bootcut Jean- $110.60
My very newest jeans discovery came from Nordstrom Rack... Paige Jeans! I didn't hold out much hope I'd be able to find a pair I liked and that was long enough, but lo and behold I found the Paige brand that has a 35" inseam. Must say, pretty much THE most flattering pair of jeans I've ever owned. The dark wash is very slimming, the fit is just right and gosh darnit, they are long enough. The rise is high enough that I don't feel "uncomfortable", but they're clearly not "Mom Jeans".
7 For All Mankind Women's Extra Long Boot Cut Jean- $155
I've been a huge fan of 7 For All Mankind for a long time. I've run these jeans into the ground at this point. I've finally made a rather large gaping hole in the knee, as a matter of fact. But, they are high quality. I've almost lived in these jeans for many years. And for the price, that's how it SHOULD be. Anyway, with their 36" inseam, a tall woman should be set!
