Never Leave the House Without A Girdle

  • It was Elizabeth Taylor, in an exclusive Barbara Walters interview, who said that a woman should never leave her house without wearing a girdle. It is hard to imagine that the famous size 8 actress, would have worn a girdle back in the 1950s. Not only was she famous for marrying wealthy men, Elizabeth Taylor was notorious for her famous dark brunette looks, and incredible hourglass figure.

Best Plus Size Shapewear

What makes the new shapewear materials unique from the stiff, binding, undergarments of yesteryear are the fabrics and versatility of each piece. Long standing plus size, undergarment, brands such as Rago®, Comfort Choice®, and Bali®, have dominated the plus size lingerie market for ages. Many of their classic products are made of stiff, elasticizing, fabrics with heavy boning. With the newer undergarment product lines, larger women will not have to put up with profuse sweating, from fabrics that are hot and unforgiving. Nor will they have to sit in discomfort from sharp, painful, digs into the skin.

With many innovations added to women undergarments recently, a big girl cannot afford not to look the best she can. These new shapewear companies out on the market today, really do a fantastic job at making sure to enhance a woman's silhouette, and mold the body into shape. They are also great for giving women extra needed back, shoulder, and bust support. The difference shapewear makes for me is remarkable, and everyone usually takes notice who sees me in shapewear. The transformation from one outfit with shapewear to an outfit without shapewear is marked in noticeable nagging inches. When I wear shapewear I look three to five inches smaller, than when I choose to go out without it, which is not very often.

I do not have a preferred shapewear company but I do have companies that I have purchased certain pieces in. I have purchased products from Spanx and Yummie Tummie. My full figure girdle is a Lane Bryant product, my camisole slips are by Maidenform®, and my tummy cincher is by Squeem®. With new shapewear start up companies such as Heather Thomson's Yummie Tummie® line and Spanx® by Sara Blakely - there is a valid reason why plus size women, should be taking notice from these Fortune 500 skinny girls.

Big Girls in Spandex

Did you know that when a person does a Google web search for big girls in spandex, it generates 3,500,000 hits? That is an astonishing number of hits. Since most of these web pages focused on making fun of fat people wearing spandex tights, bike shorts, or sports bras as daywear or evening wear in public. When I did the Google search for this hub article, the main landing page hits that came up were not so friendly towards big women. Some of these not so friendly web pages were:

  • A Facebook account called "Fat Chicks should not wear spandex”.
  • An entire NikeTalk blog page dedicated to "Chicks wearing Spandex”.
  • Over three separate Yahoo Answers! questions, under the Society and Culture heading asking "Why do fat women where spandex?” which I might add had over 48 illogical replies.
  • In addition, a SodaHead opinion page, under the Fun topic heading that was completely dedicated to the same stupid question, "Why do fat chicks wear spandex?"

Honestly, as a fat chick myself, I would like to know the answer to that question myself. However, the truth be known is that these women probably crave the attention, do not really care, or are lazy about their appearance. Therefore enough already with the fat jokes about fat women. It also is not worth a Google, to ask such a stupid fat chick question about why some girls like to wear spandex in public. Not all fat women dress their flab in spandex.

Body Acceptance Flattering Shapewear

  • Learning to say NO to spandex outfits!

One of the first steps to feeling sexy is self-esteem, which comes easily after you have accepted your body for what it is- big, delicious, and beautiful. Once you embrace the way you look, it is time to deal with the parts of your body, which may look better in a little elastic packaging. If you do not know where to begin or what to buy, there are tons of different hub articles to read. There is also shapewear review articles posted online and major woman genre magazines feature must have shapewear articles, in them as well. There is no need to fret or worry, because help is usually just a click or two away.

I really did not start wearing shapewear, until about four or five years ago. For the most part, shapewear in size 16W or 18W was hot, uncomfortable, and painful to wear. I could not handle the heat of a camisole in the summertime, and the horrible elastic waistbands they use to use on girdles, left a ring around my body for days so I just did not wear it. However, once I started hitting forty, my body started to lose its rigidity and I did not care for how it started to look. Once I started working in healthcare, long hours walking up and down concrete corridors played havoc on my legs and circulation. It was my primary healthcare physician, who actually recommended that I try wearing shapewear for back and leg support. Being a heavyset woman like myself, Dr. Logan knew right where I needed to start, and she sent me to the local Cacique Store, which is owned by Lane Bryant. Now that I have been wearing shapewear for a while, I have learned a few basic steps along the way, which I am delighted to share with you today.

For the best and most hassle free experiences, I found shopping online to be the most economical, private, and easy way to buy shapewear. I am a pear shape body, which means I am smaller at my shoulders and larger at the hips. Just like a pear, I have a wider bottom and feminine topside.

I really do enjoy wearing tighter fitting clothes. My trouble spots are in my tummy area, back flab, and a huge backside. When it came to shopping for shapewear, I first had to recognize my trouble spots, which did not look so hot in the tighter fitting clothing. For a pear shape body like mine, knowing what companies offered the best prices for the most effective product, will get you very far in this endeavor. That is where I can be the most constructive help for you. I hope that this article will help get you on your way, to buying the right body acceptance shapewear. Here are my best choices, must-haves, shapewear undergarments.
