The History of Knee-high boots
Boots Made for Walking
I love boots. I have always loved boots. From the red golashes of my childhood to the fashion scrunch western style boots I wear with my skinny jeans. I've had Dingo boots, Laredo Ropers, suede high heel boots, and even had a pair of sexy brown boots with a sheepskin liner that could be folded down and looked like pirate boots.
I am the mama who wore combat boots, too! USMC all the way! I just have to have some boots in my closet. Currently I own two knee-high pairs, two scrunch pairs and one ankle height pair. And yes, I also still own some combat boots!
I would suggest if you like boots to be reasonable in when and where you wear them. It is important to have some walking boots. In the wintertime, if it snows where you live a pair of tight on the calf knee-high boots will keep your tootsies warm and the snow out of your shoes. Consider this for your teenager, as well. They like to trudge around in the snow.
Boots have a long history. Men were the first wearers of boots. Just look at pictures in History. Boots were the thing to wear if you were hunting elk, bear, or rabbit. Boots were practical and kept the water out of your feet. They are the choice for our military heroes throughout History also. Now it is a fashion statement extraordinaire.
I sometimes find that I get teased a lot about my boots. I really don't care. One of the few pleasures I manage to give myself is a nice pair of boots. Funny though, this year I bought a nice pair of brown scrunch boots with a braided strap around the ankle, and have a practical heel, about 1 1/2". They are a light brown and look very good. Then about a month later I went back to the same store to look for a pair of black scrunch boots to wear with my narrow-legged gray jeans and oversized shirt. (It's an 80's thing). I bought this cute pair of black scrunch boots with about a 1 1/2 inch heel to go with the whole outfit. I had these boots for like two weeks and got some cushy insoles for them. After all, boots with leather soles need a little help. Am I right, or am I right? I was delighted to see that two pair of insoles came in the packet so I could put a pair in each of my new pairs of boots. How funny it was when I picked up the second pair and saw that, except for the color, they were the EXACT SAME BOOT! I thought it was so funny that I had to share my mistake with everyone. Some joined in the laughter with me and others rolled their eyes as though I was ridiculous. But that's the way it goes, right?
I still wear both pairs of boots. I liked them enough to buy them and duplicate them, ya know? I think that boots will remain a staple of my wardrobe for many more years. I'm in my upper 40's. I'll be 48 in two months. That does not matter. 40 is the new 30, after all.
I would just say to any ladies out there. If you like boots as much as I do, get some. There is no one on this Earth who should object to a pair of nice heeled boots when you go out on the town in your mid-calf skirt and cowl-neck sweater. It's a fashion that does not go out of style.
