Kunzite Gemstone - Meaning and Symbolism

Kunzite Gemstone is a beautiful delicate pink or lilac colored ornamental stone with a hint of violet. This gem is the youngest in the Spodumen Mineral family. This is an unusual and rare stone which also displays pleochroism (which means depending on the angle the stone is viewed one can find multiple colors in the same stone). This stone was first discovered in California by a gemologist named George Frederick Kunz in 1902 and therefore was named after him as Kunzite. Because of its color pink which is symbolic of love, romance and marriage Kunzite Gemstone Jewelry is an ideal gift which can be given to a loved one signifying eternal love. Because of its color it is considered as a feminine stone. The Stone gets the pink color as a result of the manganese content. This gemstone also symbolizes purity, good luck and new beginnings. This stone of love is associated with Venus and Heart Chakra.

Kunzite gemstone has hardness between 6.5 and 7 on the Mohs scale. Because of its perfect cleavage and pleochroism, it is a very difficult stone to cut. It requires a great deal of expertise in cutting in order to make sure that the fine color of this stone is shown to its full advantage. However, this stone is available in many beautiful cuts and sizes at affordable prices. Depending on the clarity of the stone and how intense the color is, the price could goes up. Many times these stones are heat treated to enhance its color.

Kunzite is mined in Brazil, Madagascar, Canada, Mexico, Sweden, Myanmar, Pakistan, Afghanistan and the United States.

Healing and Metaphysical Properties of Kunzite Stone

Kunzite is a calming and relaxation stone with tranquil vibrations which helps one in fighting conditions like Depression, tension, stress etc and find peace from within and experience unconditional love for themselves. Just like Rose Quartz and Pink Tourmaline, Kunzite Gemstone is also considered as a Stone of the Heart and Love. As a stone associated with the Heart Chakra, it is especially effective in healing a broken heart after break up from a love relationship. It is a good meditation stone. Holding or looking at Kunzite tumbled stones can release one from negative feelings like anger, fear, stress, anxiety etc and calm the nerves. This is an excellent gemstone for those suffering from strain and emotional confusion. It helps to calm exam nerves and be relaxed when facing an interview. This stone is said to be effective in the maintenance and treatment of heart, circular system and lungs. Wearing Kunzite Pendants can help in blocking geopathic stress which is a huge worry factor at the present moment. It can also be taped to the mobile phone, computer or any other electromagnetic device.

However, the Kunzite gemstone may fade in color when exposed to strong light or heat. So it is advised not to wear this gem while sunbathing or going to high temperature areas. This gem has the reputation of a night gem or evening wear. This is a very fragile gem and needs to be handled with care. It is better to get this stone cleaned by a professional jeweler in case needed.

A very good hub. I think you should add a line of disclaimer / caution (just like drug companies do) with the usage of a malafic stone like Blue Sapphire. Just kidding.
