Men In Lingerie: The World's Most Expensive Lingerie, Part One
The 'Very Sexy' and 'Star of Victoria Fantasy Bra'
"See the bling bling" says Tyra...
Splendor indeed... Speldorific, even...
Being a man in panties, or a person interested in men who like to wear panties, it stands to reason that you also might be interested in the finer aspects of the world of lingerie. Fine lingerie almost always comes with a very hefty price tag however. You think paying thirty or forty dollars for some panties is expensive? Check out these items of lingerie with a price tag to make you gag!
These bras are all part of the Victoria's Secret line up, which has allegedly been designed in a fiendish plan to run the bank accounts of lingerie lovers completely dry. The Fantasy bra series involved cramming as many diamonds, rubies, and other gemstones into gold settings as was humanly possible, and then displaying them on the bodies of the world's most beautiful women.
The line originated in 2002, when Mouawad created the "Star of Victoria Fantasy Bra", as well as the "Very Sexy" bra. It is reported that together, the bras took more than 370 hours to make. Both bras featured lavish diamond centerpieces, the Star of Victoria boasted the 60 carat Mouawad Mondera Diamond, and the Very Sexy bra went even further with a 70 carat Mouawad Excelsior diamond.
What was the price tag on those babies? Well you could have picked up the Star of Victoria Fantasy Bra for ten million dollars, a bargain compared to the Very Sexy bra, which was priced out of most people's range at eleven million dollars. Of course, you get what you pay for, the Very Sexy bra was packed with over 2, 200 diamonds, sapphires, amethysts, and rhodolites. The Star of Victoria Fantasy bra wasn't a lightweight either, containing over 320 carats of gems.
Victoria's Secret didn't stop there either. In subsequent years they have unleashed lavish pieces of lingerie that further dazzled the world with their outlandish price tags and extraordinary craftsmanship. Tyra Banks was the lucky lady selected to model the 2004 Fantasy bra, which took over 270 hours to create, and contained 2,900 pave diamonds set in 18 carat white gold, topped off by a 70 carat diamond in the center.
Tyra's advice for people who wanted to buy and wear the bra? "Make sure people can see the big bling bling on it."
Good advice there from Tyra, she's certainly always on the ball.
2005 saw Gisele Bundchen modeling yet another fantasy bra, named the Splendor Fantasy Bra. This time the price had gone up, and Victoria's Secret were looking for $12.5 million. Probably a fairly decent investment in return for the 'standard' white gold and diamonds, plus 22 rubies, and a diamond that weighed in at 101 carats.
