Mira Curl Curling Gelly

This is a review for a hair product for natural hairstyles. I must say that this is one product that I so tried and hoped would do wonders for my hair. It's manufacturer is Donna Marie. "Donna Marie was created for natural kinky, curly, coily trendsetters that want to embrace and flaunt their natural hair."--(Donna Marie)

I've purchased the product over a month ago. Tried it, put it down, tried it, ordered another bottle, put it down again, and tried the Mira Curl Curling Gelly again.

Since I was looking for a natural product, I was willing to try it while not having to use any "cone-laden" commerical product. Another problem with most commercial gels is that they often contain alcohol that tends to dry out your hair.

Mira Curl Curling Gelly Review

Since I usually wear a wash n go style, this product seemed to be the right option. I washed my hair to make sure that I didn't have any product build up and hair was clean. Secondly, I conditioned my hair with Hello Hydration Conditioner. I rinsed out the conditioner, removed the excess water and then applied Cocoa Hemp Buttermilk Leave-In Conditioner by Donna Marie. The leave-in under the Gelly should make the application to not dry extremely hard.

I then made small sections and "smoothed" and separated (clumped) my strands between my fingers. You must be extremely careful to smooth from the roots of your strands to the tips. This method is extremely tedious but should give you a long-lasting set. On the average it took me approximately 30 to 45 minutes to apply.

Originally, I had applied the Gelly to sopping wet hair with very poor results. I saw a video by a YouTuber who suggested applying product to "damp" hair instead of extremely wet hair while misting hair, as needed, during the application of the Gelly.

My 3c/4 hair took about 2 hours to dry. A couple of times I dried my hair on cool/warm in order to face the winter air.

Cons

  • With each application hair was still crunchy.
  • The hair towards the middle back of my head consistently frizzed big time.
  • I also found that unlike Eco Styler Olive Oil Gel, Mira Curl did not refresh well by spritzing or going under the shower with water.
  • Product is pricey. $21.00 for 18 ounces, I used a lot of product for 4 applications and bottle is almost empty.
  • Gelly is very gooey!

Pros

  • Hair wore well on the same day of application
  • After washing out Mira Curl Curling Gelly hair is extremely soft and curly.
  • Product washes out easily.
  • Has a soothing "sweet" smell.
  • If your looking for a "strong hold" this is a great product for that.

Conclusion

I'm hoping to be able to work out the kinks of this product for my usage. I haven't given up on the product and would certainly like to continue to use it. I have e-mailed the Donna Marie Company with my issue with the product and am waiting on a response from them.

I still have the extra bottle because when I tried to get the first bottle, product was sold out and someone on Ebay was selling the product for $28.00 plus shipping!

Let me know if you've tried the product, have any suggestions on using the product, and what was your experience with the product!

Until next time, Naturally me!

Hey Lady Summerset: Your hub is very useful. I am letting prime grow out of my hair. Was wandering what I am going to do with it once it has happened. Will try this product. I wrote down the name. Thanks. Happy New Year!
