My 3 All-Time Favorite Concealers
For Contouring and Under Eyes: Givenchy Paris Mister Light
This concealer comes in a twistable pen brush that is easy to use to draw all over your face with. This pen works perfectly for covering up my dark under-eye area because the formula is thin and illuminating rather than thick and highly pigmented. It is the perfect consistency for using the lid as shadow primer as well. I use this pen to draw triangles on my cheeks and forehead, lines down and on the sides of my nose, and marks around my lips and on my chin. I love using it as the highlighting part of my contour-highlight routine because it is so easy to use, a beautiful color, and a nice thin formula. It lasts all day. It is not, however, ideal for covering up acne spots or anything else that can be difficult to hide.
Givenchy Paris Mister Light received 4/5 stars on the Makeup Alley Website. You can purchase it here. I am fair to medium-skinned and use color 4, Mister Macaroon. It is always hard to cough up $35.00 for a little makeup product, but this product is worth its price and lasts much longer than I expected it to. For Redness: Maybelline Cover Stick Concealer, Green
I went through a few years where I had a lot of acne and red marks, and this was my go-to makeup product. I haven’t purchased it in a while, but I’ll have to, because every time I have any redness on my face I miss it! The green concealer really does a fabulous job cancelling out the redness. You may be able to just put your foundation on top of it if it is thick enough, or you may want to put a concealer on the top of the green one that matches your skin tone. This really is a miracle for those of us that get little red pimples and spots, as it makes everything look a lot less angry! I have tried to use green eyeshadows as a substitute, but nothing works as well as Maybelline Cover Stick Concealer in green.
Maybelline Cover Stick Concealer in green was rated 3/5 stars on CVS.com. It only costs around $5, so it’s definitely worth a try. It lasts FOREVER, so if you love it, $5 is an incredible steal! Overall Best: Lancôme Effacernes Long-Lasting Softening Concealer
This is easily my favorite concealer of all time. It is nice and thick, waterproof, and covers everything better than anything I’ve ever used. Until I started contouring, the only thing I ever used concealer for was covering acne, spots, and cuts on my face, and this stuff is unbeatable. The formula is just the right thickness to cover most pimples and spots, even ordinarily tough ones. I once got a huge pimple and couldn’t find my Effacernes Long-Lasting Softening Concealer, so I did my best with other concealers I had. I was still very self-conscious all night as I wasn’t able to do a great job covering it up. The next day, the pimple was just as angry, red, and huge, but I found my favorite concealer, and I couldn’t believe what a great job it did covering it up. Trust me—you want this concealer for traumatizing occasions like that one! It also works just fine for under-eyes and contouring, although I feel like it’s a little unnecessarily thick for those uses.
The best part about this little concealer is that it lasts for an impressively long time! I have had my tiny bottle for well over a year without having to repurchase, and I have probably used it 250 or 300 out of 365 days of a year. Streetfashiontrends.com rated it 4.8/5 stars. It costs around $31.00, and in my opinion, it is most definitely worth every penny. I personally use shade 02, Beige Sable, and I have light to medium skin. You can purchase it here.
