My Favourite Colour of Sock

Updated on June 7, 2012

It is a fairly common question to ask people if they have a favourite of something, be it a colour or a number or a type of food, a book or a movie. Children will often say they have a favourite colour or number while some adults tend to move away from having favourites of such inconsequential things.

I do not believe it is common for someone to have a favourite sock colour. I get the sense that most people would pick socks to roughly, or exactly, match the rest of the apparel that the person is wearing. For example, one might wear dark socks with dark trousers; one might wear light coloured socks when doing sport activities. So what one may want to consider is that they may have a favourite based on what else they are wearing.

I, for example, have a favourite sock colour for when I am playing chess. I would share with you what colour that is, however, if I did so, I might lessen my chances of winning my chess matches.

I sometimes see that the uniform of sports teams have specific colours. No doubt those are the team colours, but whoever decided what the team colours were could possibly have had those colours as their favourite. Some sports teams even use their team colour in their socks.

If I was to play a sport on a team, I am sure that I would then own socks that were at some point someone's favourite colour.

You may have noticed in this hub that I write favourite and colour in a way that may be different from the way you write these words. This could very well be the reason for the existence of this hub, but I won't tell anyone if you won't.

You may have come to this hub expecting me to share with you exactly what is my most favourite colour of sock. I really hope I do not disappoint you when it comes time for me to share this vital piece of information with you. I can appreciate that the title of this hub would have drawn you in, have you sitting at the edge of your seat in anticipation, waiting to find out exactly what favourite colour of sock I have. No doubt you would compare my favourite colour with your own, or with people to whom you may have asked what their favourite colour of sock is. In fact, that is an excellent question...

How many people have you asked: "What is your favourite colour of sock?"

When I was a child I do not recall if I had a favourite colour of sock. I'm fairly certain I had a favourite colour, or, in fact, a combination of colours that made up my favourite. I do not think I ever owned a pair of socks in that combination of colours that made up my favourite, so it is quite possible that when I was a child I did not have a favourite colour of sock. Or perhaps I did and the colour of sock that was my favourite was different from my favourite colour at the time.

As I grew older I became less enthralled with the idea of having a favourite colour and so what was once, as a child, my favourite, was no longer viewed with such favour.

Well, I hope now that you have read this hub that you have exactly what you were looking for; what my favourite colour of sock is. Thanks for reading!
